My poor puppy is a walking health disaster! I have an 8 month old lab mix that I've had from 8 weeks old. (He started out as my foster puppy but we fell in love!) He has had two surgeries and needs one more for his hips, has had mites, chronic ear infections, is allergic to air and now has papillomas filling his mouth.
The poor thing looks awful because he scratches and chews all the time, he is literally going bald. He is still happy, energetic and eats and poops fine.

According to my research all of these problems are caused largely by a poor immune system and can be helped by trying to build it back up? My question is how do I do that???

He eats the vegan/allergy formula of Natures Best (?) supplemented with an omega oil blend and whatever veggies/fruit/grains I eat that day.

I am working with my vet to find out all of his allergies so we can start building up his antibodies to them but other than that I am lost. Maybe switching foods?

Help me help Zeus PPK!

This is kind of out there, but maybe it will help. I buy this vegan coconut water kefir from whole foods that is full of probiotics, which build the good bacteria that actually make up your immune system. I recently sent my friend the link to their website after reading a testimonial from someone who gave it to their dog to fight mange, which they believe the dog couldn't fight off because of a low immune system.Perhaps this would help your dog!

Thanks wildbear, I am willing to try anything to help the poor guy! I never thought of probiotics before!

Also, may as well give your dog some echinacea too. You could try steeping it like a tea, letting it cool and them mixing it with something he'll eat, or maybe try it in pill form. I mean, it's not a drastic thing for the immune system, but every little bit helps. I think that coconut probiotic thing sounds like a great idea also.

Edited to add: When you do the coconut water thing, hopefully he has access to a yard whenever he wants because frankly, when I drink coconut water I have to pee so much more frequently than with regular water.
