Hey all! I am applying to some teaching jobs in Thailand, as well as South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Georgia. Has anyone ever been to these places and if so how was it? Can you recommend any informative books about any of these places, specifically Thailand? Thanks!

Oh hey there. I'll post more when it's not bedtime. In the mean time, here's some reading material about Korea: http://www.aliensdayout.com/

Anyone have travel experiences or recommendations for Bangkok, Pattaya and Udon Thani in Thailand? Or anywhere in Laos? I'm heading to Pattaya for a wedding in December and plan on spending 2-3 weeks on vacation. The friend I'll be traveling with has family in Udon Thani and we're thinking about spending a couple of days in Vientiane in Laos. I have absolutely no experience travelling in Asia.

I was in Bangkok about 2 years ago and loved it. I took a vegan cooking class at May Kaidee's that was very fun and informative- http://www.maykaidee.com/It was tough finding vegan food at places that don't cater to vegans, but there are a good number of places that do (and we happened to be there during a vegetarian festival, which made things rather easy).

Thanks, Ailee! Those classes look like so much fun - if I end up with a few days extra in Bangkok, I'm all over one! I wish I was going during the festival, alas. I figure I'll stock up on emergency protein bars, and fortunately, the wedding should be vegetarian-friendly for religious reasons. I plan on eating fresh fruit wherever and whenever I can, as a rule.
Does anyone have any experience traveling in Cambodia, as well? Or traveling alone in Southeast Asia? I've never done so, and do plan on it.
