Does anyone have recommendations for places to eat or really cheap places to stay? I am doing a show there for a few days and would like some ideas. Thanks!

My parents live in Bristol, so I can't speak for other places to stay, but as for eating, I would plan on heading to the grocery stores on the Virginia side or Subway. I have not found great vegan cuisine and the one health food store closed. In fact, my parents generally pilgrimage to Asheville for fine vegan dining, now that I think about it. I don't mean to sound down on the area, though. It can be quite charming.

Thanks! I will probably take most of my food with me and it looks like I will just be driving back and forth, so dinner may not be an issue after all. I look forward to being exhausted on Monday.

My grandma lives there! All I have to say is that it's a good thing that dinner probably won't be an issue, as the dining situation there is pretty dismal. If you think it's worth the (half-hour) drive, Johnson City has some decent vegan options. . . Cootie Brown's has several types of vegan burgers and can make a vegan cheeseless pizza, and there's also an EarthFare.
