If you have nothing planned for Saturday night consider this:
Derailer Bicycle Collective (4th and Lipan) is hosting a benefit for Everybody's Kitchen Saturday at 8 p.m. Kyle Harris, Doo Crowder, Charismatic Megafauna and All Liver no Onions will play, plus there will be beer from our neighbors at Breckenridge Brewery, VEGAN red beans and rice (plus regular, whatever) and a raffle for a REAL LIVE Bicycle. There may even be vegan cake.
It will be the most fun EVAR.
Everybody's Kitchen has been parked at Derailer for, oh about three months now. It's a big old school bus, equip with a kitchen. They travel around the country doing relief work and sharing food in low-income neighborhoods. Their model is similar to Food Not Bombs, in that they use food that would otherwise be disposed of. They are hardcore. I would say the majority of their meals are vegan and even more are vegetarian. They've been feeding about 200 people a day at Triangle Park, another park near El Centro, plus feeding Derailer users and volunteers whenever we have shop hours.
In short, they are awesome.
We're suggesting a donation of $5-10 at the gate, but we won't turn anyone away for lack of cash.
