Hey peeps! Is anyone going to the soft opening they are having for the Boston Vegetarian Society tomorrow(Sat Nov 6)? BVS Members have been invited to dine for lunch with everything on the menu 50% off! Reservation times have been staggered so they will have a small amount of people at each seating to not overwhelm the kitchen, I got a time slot for 11:20 am. If you aren't a BVS member, sign up now and email them about it to see if you can get a time! I am so excited to try this place! http://www.truebistroboston.com/

I'm not a member. But I am excited that they're opening! Please post up here and let us know how it is! I've been drooling over the menu for a while.

Please post and tell about what you ate and how was the staff, etc.

I'm super excited to try this place; we're way overbooked for the next couple weeks, but that will give them time to get any "just opened" bugs out!

i can't stop thinking about the "queso fresco" they used on my salad. it reminded me so much of goat cheese and that was the one thing that held me back from going completely vegan for awhile. Ive been googling all morning and can't find a recipe. I'm foaming at the mouth. Luckily there are a bunch of vegan goat cheese recipes so I will have to try one of those.

Thanks for writing the review Vegan Food Rocks!
I'm thinking of going on Saturday for lunch and you've convinced me to get the arugula salad! I really want the coconut cream pie they have on the dinner menu. I hope they will serve it at lunch if I request it.
I'll take the kids and husband if they want and I won't let anyone duplicate orders so I'll be able to sample everything!

I definitely want to check out True Bistro, but Melisser's coming on the 17th, and (for budget reasons) I don't like to eat out more than once a week. Any chance we could push the meet-up back a little? If not, you guys will HAVE to report back on what everyone had and how it was.

I have every weekend until Dec 18 free so far so whatever works for everyone. I'm so sad I'm going to be in RI the night Melisser is gonna be here :(

Oohh, I so totally want to check this place out. I'm with Vegetalion on not wanting to eat out more than once a week and definitely wanting to go to Melisser's signing. Sometime in December would be awesome... I have the end of the semester in there, so if December 18th is still in the safely free range for everyone, that would actually be an awesome day for me, because I can celebrate the end of the semester and thus not feel guilty about splurging on a nice meal!

As of now, December 18 is good for me. Only thing that could get in way is husband's annual holiday children's party but he could solo with the kids as long as he is not working.

I just found out my sister is flying home for xmas the 18th from Cali, she always takes a long nap when she gets home so I'd only be able to do lunch that day.

I went to True Bistro yesterday for Brunch. I was a little disappointed because I really wanted the lunch menu but it was great anyway.
I had Tofu Benedict. It was excellent. Served over a biscuit instead of english muffin and came with a side of hash potatoes. The most remarkable thing about it was the potion which was huge. I'm a normal portion size eater but I couldn't finish this and left some on my plate.
My daughter had the seitan tofu scramble and it was also delicious.
We shared a chocolate chip cookie for dessert and it was the best vegan cookie I've ever had. I really wanted the cocnut cream pie but they didn't have it.
I look forward to going back during the week and ordering off the lunch menu so I can get the yummy salad and some soup.
