I love hearing Kathy Stevens talk, and am so happy that Montclair Vegans have brought her to Montclair, NJ (just about 25mins outside Manhattan). She is a fantastic and very kid-friendly speaker. I've never heard her speak without seeing everyone tear up at the lovely stories she tells about the animals she has rescued and the things she has learned. She is also a speaker who doesn't spend a ton of time on the conditions of farms etc, so often these talks are very accessible and effective for non-vegans.
Please come out and invite people to attend! This is our FB page for sharing:
http://www.facebook.com/events/406732096022323/Kathy Stevens is the founder of Catskill Animal Sanctuary,an 80-acre haven for abused and discarded farm animals located two hours north of Manhattan. She will be in Montclair to talk about the sanctuary and tell us all about the animals that live there. Kathy is the author for two wonderful books about rescued animals: Where the Blind Horse Sings and Animal Camp. She is an excellent speaker, so you won't want to miss this event!
Kathy's books Where the Blind Horse Sings and Animal Camp will be available for purchase, and Kathy will be on hand to sign copies after her talk.
