Have you guys found big jars? We only found small jars at the Colruyt, but I have a feeling that once I taste it I'm gonna need a big jar.

Whoohoo! Vegan bagels at the AH! I've avoided buying their bakery bagels because they don't usually list the ingredients and when they do, they don't specify if their emulsifiers are plant-based. Today I checked again, just in case, and they had a full ingredient list, and specified that their emulsifier is soy-based! Wheee!!!

I checked and the emulsifier info says "soy lecithin, E471", right? These things are NOT the same... E471 = mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids :(

Isn't it the case that pretty much every bread in every supermarket has E471 or E472 in it?

I don't have the packaging anymore, but read it a few times (because I wasn't sure I could believe my eyes) and I could have sworn it said that the source of the E471 was soy. I thought I checked carefully enough, and I never buy stuff with E471 unless it specifies that it's plant-derived. (The brood at the Dirk does specify this, for example.) I'll be really bummed if my old-lady eyes failed me on this one. :(

My localist toko sells Thai ice cream made by Foco which is three things only: coconut milk, sugar and {fruit} - durian (gross!), coconut {yum!} or mango {triple yum!}. It rivals the amazing coconut based ice cream lepelaar was going on about up-thread.

Happy to know this, Bun. Thanks !

Well crepe. My little old lady eyes did deceive me. I didn't see the "en" at the end of "emulgator" and assumed that the E471 was the soy lecithin. :(

It could be, but AH is usually very sketchy about the source of their e-numbers. There is this though: http://www.veganisme.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8350Might be a good idea to mail AH again to see if someone can confirm that the sketchy numbers are plant-based. I don't eat a lot of bread and I'm not very careful about e-numbers either, so I'm not the right person for the job.

DUDES. Verkade has something new... Broskoekjes! They are IDENTICAL to McVitie's fruit shortcake, and I'm 100% sure Verkade bought their recipe. NOM. http://www.verkade.nl/producten/koekjes ... roskoekje/
