Hey PPKers!

To make a boring story even more boring, I'll be heading to Quito in a few weeks for a conference (The World Festival of Youth and Students) but I was wondering if any South American PPKers had some tips, hot spots, advice or maybe wanted to meet up?

So is anyone still living in SA? Or been? What did you eat? Who goes where? Is anyone going to this anti-imperialism conference by chance?

p.s. I've missed you folks!

I think Pi was in Ecuador for a few weeks? I've never been but been to other SA areas. The thing you have to be careful of in central america and south america is either lard (although I'm not sure how popular it is in south america), chicken stock/beef stock and cheese. I was a new vegan when I was in a remote area of Argentina and I found it a bit hard to navigate being vegan. I think part of it was remote area and new vegan though. Bean and rice dishes will hopefully be your friend but you will have to check in the best way possible to see if they are cooked without animal products.

Correct! I loved Ecuador. I didn't spend much time in Quito though. In the tourist part of town it was pretty easy to eat vegan (to be honest, I don't ask about eggs in veggie burgers, but I am as strict as possible otherwise while I am in cities... in villages I usually just eat fries and rice). Watch out for mayonaise, they try to put it on everyhing. I mostly ate international food in Quito... vietnamese, falafel, stuff I hadn't had in 6+ weeks but you probably can get. I don't have my books from then with me or I could recommend specific places. There was a veggie restaurant called El Mapel that was good, but it is the only name I remember.
