Sounded like fisticuffs and marla666 are maybe's? Should we ping Amsterdamaged, Mr. & missmuffcake & gnoe on facebook to find out if they're in?

Perhaps we can create an event on facebook and invite/inform every one that way?

I'm still a maybe, yes. The train situation between Belgium and The Netherlands is a bit forked at the moment! I checked last week for connections and I had to transfer trains twice, with a total traveling time of like 3,5 hours. So erm, fingers crossed that will still change.

I created a facebook event, and I think I invited everyone who's real name I know?
(If you didn't receive an invite, sorry for being a name-ppk.name-connecting idiot. Send a PM and I'll invite you.)

Yeah, it's kind of a mess. I've been alternating taking the bus (Eurolines) and taking the boemeltrein. Train takes me over 4 hours and I have to transfer three times (Roosendaal, Antwerpen, Mechelen) but it's more flexible than the bus. If you do decide to come and don't want to have to brave going back on the trains the same day, you'd be welcome to crash at my place.

ETA: I think the Fyra should also be up and running by then!

Thanks for the offer! The Fyra doesn't sound very dependable, haha.

I got the ping on FB! I'd love to come but I do have a prior engagement so I'll have to see how this works. I sort of promised to go on this sponsor walk for library books for Uganda. What time are you planning to meet up?

And doesn't Bonnie live in The Hague? Maybe she'd like to join and/or go shopping with Robynn -- I'll PM her!

Oops! It's not actually the Fyra that'll be up and running by then. They're replacing it with an intercity until this mess is fixed. It only rides as far as Den Haag, not Amsterdam, but it should still be better than the current situation. (It took me four hours and FIVE trains to get from Dendermonde to Amsterdam this morning, FFS!)

I'm up for lunch too!

BTW, if you want to join in on the Veggiedeli order, tell me what you want next week, Saturday at the latest, so I can go ahead and order it in time for the meet-up.

Okay! We're making our budget for the month this weekend, so I'll have a look and see if we can feasibly afford to splurge on a few things ;) I'll let you know!

I like lunch! Meet at the central station at, um, some time? I think I can meet anytime after 11; my trains arrive at 26 and 56 past the hour. NS says there's work on the tracks near Gouda right now. I hope that's old news by the time we want to go anywhere.

Depending on if I'm rowing that morning (which depends on if I can sign up for the next block of lessons), the earliest I would be able to meet would be between 12:30 and 1 pm.

Is Centraal the best station for meeting up with Robynn and the places we want to go? Are we doing de Hagedis for lunch? Maybe that Chinese place that pickledtreats posted about for dinner? Or the other way around? Pity the snackbar near HS won't be open yet!

Has anyone pinged Bonnie or Paloma? Who else are we missing of the Dutchies?

Cornelie, I'll be checking out the website and PMing you a list soon!

So excited! Made it to Spain and will be in town a week from Monday :) Centraal station is the closest to my hotel I think, but I have heard the transit system there is great so I can likely meet anywhere as long as I see the name written down

I think Centraal is the easiest for those of us not coming from Amsterdam. ;)
de Hagedis and that Chinese place sound great!

I pinged Paloma -- she's busy being a chef that day. Alas.

I think I'd like a lighter lunch... I NEED the cashew fondue at the Hagedis, but I'd rather have it for dinner. Any chance we can go to Baklust for lunch?

There are too many delicious places! I'm pretty sure i'm happy with anything.
When will you know your schedule, lepelaar? We should probably make reservations? since it sounds like we're a big group.

I'm happy where ever we go.

Oh, and it turns out there's no rowing that week anyway, so I can be there any time.

Ate lunch at Baklust today and it was amazing :) The waitress was really friendly and made some great recommendations! They are also open until 9pm (which is apparently a new thing) so we might go back this evening for dessert haha. Yum!

I just checked, Centraal means an extra transfer for me. Maybe lepelaar and I could meet in HS and go to the lunch place from there?

We could do that!

Checking the thread on FB, it looks like we've got a reservation at 12:00, and the restaurant is about a 15-20 minute walk from HS. Just checking the NS Hispeed site and it looks like if you want to get the intercity, it would get you in either an hour too early or an hour too late. The only train that would get you in at around the right time is the stoptrein from Roosendaal (which means two transfers instead of one). That said, that's the train I've been taking every other Friday morning, and it's a pretty good connection. (It's "afgestemd" with international commuters in mind, so the trains in both directions at Roosendaal wait for each other.) Let me know what you want to do, and I'll meet you there!

BTW, the invite to crash at my place is still open, but just to warn you, I have no heating at the moment, and I know it's going down below freezing again this week, so if you come, bring some thermals.

That sounds good, I'll meet you there! Yeah I saw the direct connections get me there way too early.
