I'm going to Caaaaaaape Town. This is a random, solo, I go where I please, #CantTellMeNothin kind of trip. Cape Town has never been on my list of places to go but now it is so I would love here from others about fun things to do and restaurants to check out.
While there, are there any fun side trips I should go on? Johannesburg, maybe?

I'm SO jealous! I'm hoping to go back to Botswana (potentially to do some work) early next year and I'm definitely visiting more of South Africa this time. Last time I was too rushed with a real job and school to have time to go exploring.

No suggestions, but I'm sure you'll have an amazing time!

Turns out South Africa is actually a pretty decent place for vegan food.

Cape Town - definitely go to Planet restaurant for one of the most fanciest meals you'll have and it'll run you around $45 / person for plenty of wine and around 6-7 courses. Dress code is in effect. Fry's vegan meats are everywhere even small little grocery stores.

Johannesburg isn't as cool or as vegan-friendly as Cape Town but still pretty good.

Fry's were also available in Butswana (Kasane) and Zimbabwe (Vic Falls).

Nairobi on the other hand did not rock in the vegan department. Pretty scarce to find any mention of vegan other than at Sierra Premium brewpub restaurant where they have one appetizer that's listed as vegan. There are some pure veg Indian places so maybe stick with the Chinese Indian options.
