We visit Newark every year and this place Home Grown Cafe has been getting better and better in terms of vegan options. We were there for brunch yesterday and they have a ton of vegan options including making all of their omelets vegan! It's essentially a Vegan Brunch style omelet mixture of tofu, chickpea flour, nooch etc... I had one with sausage and bacon and it was great!

Oh yeah, and there was a new health food store http://www.newarknaturalfoods.com/
They had tons of vegan stuff and I found the earth balance cheddar puffs there, which i haven't even seen at whole foods yet!

That menu looks great! And I love that the vegan options are priced at the same as the omni ones!

I went to College there, I pretty much lived at Homegrown my senior year. Went back a year or so ago and had the omlette and it was one of the best vegan breakfast items I ever had. Great place, met lots of friends and professors there too, and it's where I learned about good beer. Memories.

I thought that the Co-op had been around for ages, hmm. A lot of the small businesses are closing up on Main Street as more and more chains come in, which sucks because about 10 years ago, when I was a freshman, it was great. Once the Stone balloon was demolished it all seemed to fall apart.

Oh, maybe it has been around, but they got a new sign or something? We never noticed it before. Or maybe we noticed it because it was next to a new looking comic shop. My husband was a freshman there 20 years ago so obviously there's lots of new stuff since then, but I guess klondike kates will live forever. We also noticed a bahn mi place that had tofu, but didn't investigate if it was vegan.
