The new Air and Space annex is great. I went last spring to see the Shuttle.

I used to mostly hate Air and Space as a kid, but now I love it.

The first ladies hall in the American History museum is fun. It's so cool to walk down the line seeing fashions change. Some of the tech exhibits there are good too.

Heck, not much about the Smithsonian isn't amazing. Pick a random building to wander in and get sucked in.

I love the idea of doing your areas of expertise or interest with each of you! Or, if linanil can get away on Tuesday, maybe the 3 of us doing something together?

How are you on a bicycle? It may be worth it to check out http://www.capitalbikeshare.com/. I find that I can hop between Virginia and all around DC faster on two wheels than by metro, and it really frees you up for the exploring!

To augment the restaurant suggestions already out there-
As much as I love a dedicated vegan restaurant, I like my tastebuds to stay interested. I'd recommend checking out some of the amazing restaurants in the area that are VERY accommodating to vegans, listed in completely random order:
Zaytinya*, Oyamel*, Rasika*, Jaleo, Masa 14, Zentan, Kapnos, La Tasca*, Estadio*, Cava*, Daikaya, Agora, Indique, Eatonville, Smoke and Barrel, Mandu*, Nora's, Zengo, Toki Underground*, Harmony Cafe, Bibiana*, Cuba Libre, Rice, Sticky Rice*, Mandalay*, Ezme, Ghana Cafe, Bombay Club*, Sei, Domku, Sukuramen*, Figs Lebanese, Ghibellina, Dangerously Delicious Pies, Masala Art, and Mitmitsam Cafe.

What I'd call vegan junk food: Food for thought, attached to the black cat, Science club, and Galaxy hut in arlington.

For Ethiopian, Ethiopic* is indeed good, but overpriced. I've tried Etete*, Zenebech*, Das*, Meskerem*, and Dukem*, and found all vegetarian options to be wonderful. The injera is best at Etete. That said, Dama*, in Arlington, is probably my favorite of all.

D.C.'s vegan pizza options abound: Pete's apizza*, pizzoli's*, zpizza, h & pizza, duccini's, red rocks*, district of pi, custom fuel, mellow mushroom, &pizza, and pizzeria paradiso*, to name a few.

More casual fall-backs in metro-friendly locations if you ever get stuck and starved: le pain quotidien*, sweetgreen*, protein bar, roti, and teaism*.

With advance planning, for a fancy pants meal: Equinox will set up an expensive elaborate multi-course meal for you, for A SHITTON of money you can have a culinary experience of a lifetime at Rogue 24, and then on the other end of the spectrum there's Elizabeth's gone raw.

Finally, DC has AWESOME food trucks. http://foodtruckfiesta.com/washington-dc-food-trucks/
Woodland Vegan, Cirque Cuisine, Chatpat Truck, TaKorean, DC Ballers, Lemongrass Truck, The House of Falafel, Far East Taco Grille, Reggae Vibes, Seoul Food, Fojol Bros, House of Falafel, Caribbean, Meski Healthy 2 go, and for dessert, Captain Cookie, have great vegan options.

*holler at me for recommendations from these places.

Any ideas for Tuesday? Let me know! I'm up for mostly anything I can access.

Also don't mind driving to one of the Maryland places.

Can anyone chime in on the most accessible places to go for lunch that are either near the museums or Alex (king/Asaph st, so around the whole Foods area)?

I can park at any DC metered spot for free, but I'm mostly worried about availability of parking since that's always bad in DC. From what I remember, Sticky Fingers has a garage near by where the WF is? The only time I've been there, my dad dropped me off out front.

This is why I never do anything, and I feel bad that I'm the limiting factor in where someone from out of town goes. Blech.

I've had fairly good luck parking close to Sticky Fingers in the past but I don't really know.

Which one? It seems they have two locations now, and I don't know which I was at. Aargh. I know it was by the big Giant.

Sorry I'm such a dope here. I'll have my act together tomorrow.

Park Rd is only address listed. I don't know what my mom was talking about. She was looking it up earlier because she is worried about me trying to do to much tomorrow.

I forget what it's called but there is a black car service, about the same price as a taxi, there is an app so you can tell them to pick you up where you are. If you tell your mom that is your backup plan, she may feel less nervous.

Lavawich, tell your mom I won't let you do too much! I've got a map and a metro card, and I'm very comfortable with public transit and wandering cities. You can go home whenever you need to without putting a damper on my fun. I'm just super excited to get to meet you in person!

I had the best time today with Lavawich! We had lunch at Sticky Fingers and then bought lots of sweets. Then we went to the American History Museum and saw the First Ladies exhibit and then the Natural History Museum to look at lots of fascinating, unusual, and beautiful rocks. If only I could have met Molly too, the day would have been perfect. Thank you Lavawich for a nearly perfect day!

I'm so glad we got to meet up! I had such a nice time too.

I was semi forgiven for coming home later because the carrot cupcake pleased the avian overlords.

Only thing is, I should have bought two of those pumpkin whoopie pies!

I got your messages linanil, I was just away from my computer all day. Sorry about keeping you waiting. See you tomorrow!

Yes! And Mr. Rhizo seemed equally nice.

(I still have half a cupcake left!)

Awe thanks you two! You are both lovely people as well. It was great to meet PPKers in person!
Lavawich, Mr. Rhizo enjoyed meeting you as well.

Linanil and I had so much fun at the Air and Space museum and Lunch at Everlasting Life Cafe, followed by dessert at Sticky Fingers. Did you try the devil thing yet linanil? I forget what it was called.

I made it to Sticky Fingers 3 times in a one week trip! Do I win a prize?

Yes! I'm so jealous. I want more jelly donuts. I'm still dreaming about that damn donut.

(It is so aggravating that I work mere miles from Sticky Fingers, yet traffic puts it totally out of reach.)

I had a nightmare last night that Sticky Fingers closed down! It was so horrifying. But then we realized they were just closed for renovation and would re-open soon.

Aww! That is probably because I told you the story of that other restaurant that closed down.
