I have never been in the Rathaus... that should be fun! and I can really recommend the Michel... we could go to the top (400+ stairs?) and have a grand view of Hamburg.

I've conquered my fear of heights once in Munich, I can do it again in Hamburg! I'm down!

I have jerusha's phone number, so I can call her up and ask if you are still at Miller. I can't make 10.00, that would mean getting up around 7.00 on a Saturday! I'll just meet up with you later. I will definitely have food with the PPK!

Anyone know how much these sites cost? I've budgeted myself for lots of eating and transportation, but haven't thought about Hamburg sites really.

I haven't said much but I'm very excited and I've read everything and I'm all informed and ready and I'm very excited. :)

the Rathaus is for free, if you dont go on a guided tour. the Michel is free as well if you dont want to visit the tower (i think...?). the harbour is free ANYWAY and is the main attraction, but maybe that's just me.

My day went really well and because of that the stress I've been feeling towards today has completely fallen off my shoulders and now I can actually look forward to tomorrow and it feels really good and I'm really excited and yay! I've got my money and my things and I'm basically ready to go. :)
And yeah, it's raining here too... hopefully it'll clear up. :)
See you all soon! <3

This has never happened to me! I've traveled sick, tired, when I shouldn't have because of tons of work or not enough money...almost nothing can keep me from traveling when I've planned the trip. Except for my weird hip problem. That's all I can call it.
My left hip swells now and again (my mom thinks it's because one leg is longer than the other), but it's never been a problem. It would just swell a bit, but there would be no pain. A week and a half ago (maybe it was even two weeks), it started to swell a lot. I've gotten a lot of pain - can't walk a lot because it hurts, but then sitting down hurts and I want to get up, but then laying down sucks, etc. I had to do a lot of walking today to make a meeting and it was clear that I need to go to the doctor. I've been avoiding it because we're poor and without insurance for me, but I might just bite the bullet and go. My hip is so swollen! Big butts are awesome, but not when it's only one side of da butt. Even my love handle area is swollen. I need to figure this out and decided to be a grown up instead of slogging my way through Hamburg and making it worse. It's a dull pain, nothing sharp, and I could probably do the weekend and not be totally miserable (I'm still debating with myself), but it's probably not a good idea.
This would be my first European PPK meetup...really bummed about this. Makes me feel like I'm getting old and decrepit :(
PS: Dutch PPKers, can we make a pact to have our own mini meet up soonish? I really want to hang out with you guys! xoox

I am really sorry you're in pain! Please go and see a doctor, it sucks with the insurance but the Dutch medical system as a whole gets rave reviews (and I study Public Health so I read about these things). I want to go to Groningen on a daytrip soon, maybe you can go there then! pickledtreats wrote: I had to do a lot of walking today to make a meeting and it was clear that I need to go to the doctor. Turns out it was stupid for me to keep putting off getting insurance because whenever you do they charge you for coverage from the date of your residency. Trying to avoid paying might actually cost us more! I'm dumb. This is what I get for technically breaking the law because we're poor. Let me know when you're visiting! Party time, fo real.
