Shows what I know, I just assumed the vegans were still doing breakfast on Triple J! I haven't listened in years.

I know a few people who are actually going to the races :( Sure, I'm happy to get the day off work, but the whole thing is a ridiculous waste of money, not to mention fuelling people's gambling addictions.
It will be interesting to hear what the Doctor has to say about it on his afternoon show.
On a much more pleasant note, I had the most amazing raw cheesecake at World Vegan Day on Sunday. So much great food!

Cheesecake won hands down! I could have seriously eaten all day, but other plans and lack of funds prevented me from doing so.

I work at Lush on the busiest shopping street in Brisbane and there was a TAB installation set up right out front. Luckily it's a lovely, accepting workplace and they totally understand why I don't support it.

I love lush, it is THE best smelling store on the planet i think. You can always tell if a mall has lush the moment you walk in.

omg hay! guess what! etc!
I got leave approved for the inaugural notjosh-storms-down-under event of 2010.
as such, does anybody: a) want anything from Canada (and perhaps USA?) that would otherwise be a dick to ship. I'm thinking like..Vega. not sure what else you might want! b) want to get together for noms. I'll be in Melbourne and Canberra mostly, perhaps with a trip or two to Sydney. maybe Adelaide if I'm swayed by pals. maybe.
guh, I was just thinking it's gonna be a pain to remember safe brands/products again.. I wonder if anything has de-veganised since!
on to booking flights!

Adelaide really does have some great vegan food. Pity you just missed the Vegan Festival in October! I'm always up for some Sydney noms, I live in Newtown which is where a lot of the Sydney vegan food is, so if you're out this way hit up the thread or PM me!

Melbourne people - can anyone recommend any particularly good Ethiopian restaurants? I'm going to be there around Christmas.

I miss having so many vegan options in Adelaide! There are heaps, considering the size of the place.
All I would want from the States/Canada is Daiya and Creemore beers. But they're even more inconvenient/potentially illegal to bring in on your own.

Apparently the East Brunswick Club has a new menu, here. The breakfast menu has vegan pancakes with ice cream, peanut butter and maple syrup. Yes please.

I liked this place a lot when i was in Melbourne in September. I didn't get to eat breakfast though, just the parma on quiz night which was delicious! Good quiz too!

How do you find being vegan on the coast madam dahlia? I went to school there and my parents live in Minyama, I go and visit them when I can. I think it's pretty easy to live anywhere if you have access to basics like rice, lentils, beans, tofu etc but I'm so used to being able to get vegan takeout when I want it! Sometimes little things annoy me too when I go visit, like not being able to find nooch or wheat gluten (I've tracked both of them down, it's just not as easy, I guess you've got to know your places!).

ha yes, i find being vegan on the coast a lot easier than where and when i grew up - central queensland, beef capital stylin! so on that note, i have to say that i have never expected to be too lucky finding vegan take-away ;) and i'm up in the hinterland, where alternative is actively encouraged...so it's not that hard to find nooch and stuff.

Oh, thanks! I'll have to try to go there early, I'm never staying there long enough to eat enough refrigerated junk food for my liking. Last time I only had a couple of days to finish the Purely Decadent I'd bought. Life's tough.

sad face. our sydney bake sale got rained out, we were there for a couple of hours before giving up. I had rain dripping down my back, wet jeans, and damp socks. How frustrating!

I was looking forward to some goodies and I got told it was rained out before I was even out of bed! I just went online and donated anyway and someone bought me some delicious cookies later.
