It's that time of year again. The 5th Annual Joanne Wood March Madness for Mammaries Hike takes place Saturday, March 19th at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills. Proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and the Wellness Community - Arizona (they feature cooking classes with vegan chef Jason Wyrick). My Aunt Jo passed away after a long and brave battle with breast cancer. The hike is my tribute to her memory.
Eligible hikers (those who raise $250.00 in donations for the charities) get treated to vegan breakfast, lunch (not sure if it will be all vegan (most likely), but definitely awesome vegan options. Breast Stops (aid stations) feature vegan snacks. You also get goody bags, t-shirts, massage therapists and chiropractic at the trailhead.
VegFund has given us a grant, so there will be some great vegan literature there too. I may be a little biased (because I'm the organizer) but this is a really wonderful event. The park is beautiful and the volunteers are awesome. Plus it is for a great cause.

HIKE WEBSITE for more information. If you are in the area, I hope you can join us. Don't want to hike? We can always use some baking/cooking volunteers to donate some goodies for the hikers to eat!
