Hi Seattle! Hiiiiii!

I know you all know how to have fun. I know it.

One Ms Lycophyte and I are visiting your fair city at the very end of September and would like a good ol' time. What should we do? Where should we go? Would anyone like to hang out? (it's all going to be during the week, so I know that can be a pain in the arse meet-up wise, but would LOVE it if any of yous were about). I have plotted the hell out of every vegan/vegan-friendly joint on google maps from loads of threads in here, but if there is anything new happening lemme know! Other than food I've, uh, plans to visit the library. I'm sure there are many many other awesome things to do though!

What do you think, guys?

Check out what might be at the art museum. I've seen good shows there.

Yes, SAM is a pretty decent art museum for perusing. The current big exhibit closes soon and I'm not sure what (if any) new shows will be up the end of September. But there's some neat ongoing stuff. The Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park is also cool to wander around.

Other museums that might be fun to check out are MOHAI (South Lake Union) and the Burke Museum (at the University of Washington).

For total cheesy Seattle tourist stuff, you could do an underground tour. I haven't been on it since I was maybe seven years old but it's kind of neat. (Seattle had a big fire 1889 and the street level was raised up when it was rebuilt, so there's old streets and storefronts and stuff down there.) There are also duck tours that, while obnoxious, seem like they might be fun if you approached them with a tongue-in-cheek attitude. Basically, I just want photos of PPKers riding ducks (ducks are the new buses).

The Ballard locks are kind of fun to check out on a nice day.

Theo chocolate gives tours of their factory and I've heard a lot of the samples are vegan. I think someone here also finagled a tour of the (old) Field Roast facility and got a bunch of free stuff.

I always recommend taking a ferry ride for a cheap way to see some pretty scenery. The crossing to Bainbridge Island is about half an hour.

I could possibly do a meetup. But, depending on the day, I would have at least one small child with me. Possibly two. I'd understand if that's not really what you have in mind!

They also do a cool late night ghost underground tour going through the brothels and opium dens which is super awesome, too.

If you like music, the EMP (Experience Music Project) is a phenomenal museum. In the Fremont neighborhood, there's cool art- we have a troll under a bridge, a statue of Lenin, a funky sign denoting the Center of the Universe, and the Burke-Gilman trail runs through Fremont, the University District, and Ballard.
We have really cool breweries around here, too- Fremont Brewery has great beer, Mischief Distillery has great gin. There's also Stoup in Ballard that's (I think) a new place run by mostly women. Ballard also has lots of pubs and taverns with good live music most nights of the week.

Yay! Can we plan a dinner type meetup? FootFace will not be asked to have fun.

I will have only 2 nights, so if we do it while I am around, either the 29th or 30th! (29th is my birthday!)

OK, got it. No asking for fun from Footie. Noted.

Thanks for the advice of things to do, lovelies! I have lots more things to look up now.

Dinner on the 29th or 30th sounds good!

And I am sure the wee Inez and Greta would be most welcome, Pinko (though one of the very few things I know about kiddos is that they require a slightly earlier bedtime that adults, so I hope dinner doesn't exclude you!)

Yay, Seattle, I knew I could count on yous.

I completely forgot that we are going on vacation the end of September. Oops. So I will not be meeting up and I am sad, but I hope you guys have a fun time! (Well, except for FootFace. Obviously.)

I'd love to join you all for dinner! I work on the 29th, but I should be free the 30th. I've lived in Seattle for over a year and I still don't know any other vegans yet. I'm a bit younger than most PPKers (I'm 19), but I'd really like to meet some people.

Ok! So 30th then? It sounds like that works better for most?

I can do the 30th! I didn't think I could but I can. So let's get this thing planned. FootFace? Other Seattle people who I have not met?

Interrobang, when are you leaving Seattle? If the 30th doesn't work we could all meet up sometime in the first few days of October if you'll still be here.

Sorrrrries!! Apparently I make meet-up threads then dingy them :( I left Seattle this morning after almost ending up living in Olympia forever (stupid Amtrak. Stupid, rubbish Amtrak. Not that there's anything much wrong with the idea of living in Olympia! With the pipe in the parking lot that gives out water, and the zine library and the hotdogs and such. I would've been ok with all that. At least for a wee while. The Oly-Lacey train station sucks, mind- especially when you are there for 4 hours at night on your own) and am now in Vancouver BC. Thanks to the magical monkeytoes for putting up with me and picking me up from the train station after the aforementioned stupid stupid rubbish Amtrak. And thanks to Pinko and the amazing cutest Greta for coming to the PDX picnic. Seattle! You were very big and very hilly and very full of tall buildings but I liked you. And your big lovely library. Good job, Seattle. Good job.

Hear that, Seattle? I am magical. Also, interrobang?! is lovely and you are very sorry you missed out on meeting up with her and lycophyte (who is just as delightful as she was when she was bryophyte) at Wayward. We also had birthday cake ice cream at Full Tilt, yum.
