I am visiting there in a few weeks, so does anyone have restaurant recommendations? Any place to get vegan desserts?
The only place I am coming across is The Cove.
Thanks!

I went to Green when I was there, small place, but the owner was very friendly and gave me a free dessert! home made fruit smoothies, and nice home-made seitan.

the cove and green are both awesome. we lived 45 minutes outside of SA for 10 months and went to both places monthly.
also: they're only about 5 blocks from each other. 1/2 mile, tops.

I went to The Cove and it was awesome. The atmosphere was great and they had a bacon cheeseburger that was one of the best things I have ever tasted. I definitely recommend it.

You *MUST* go to Green. Sometimes late at night, I dream about their Chicken Fried Seitan & mashed potatoes smothered in gravy...
One word of warning... check the hours before you go. They're closed on Saturdays.

Are there any new vegan places in San Antonio to try? We are staying by the Riverwalk the first night then we will be staying Northwest of the city close to the Six Flaggs. Any ideas would be great. My friends are not vegetarian, but they are open to trying new places. I told them I wanted to get some blog fodder, but really I want to get some awesome vegan eats.

Definitely go to The Vegeria http://www.myvegeria.com/ It's SA's first and only vegan restaurant. It's Tex-Mex and though I'm in India now and haven't been able to eat there, all my friends that have been have LOVED it. Some people also like The Green, but I've never had a good experience there. Let us know how it goes!

If you can, try out King's Court Frankfurter Express. Cheap, great vibe, and off the beaten path a bit. Plus, they have this insane condiment bar. It's omni, but completely veg and vegan friendly, and one of my newer favorites! Vegeria is all right. I went on their grand opening and a couple of times the week they opened. I think they were still working out the kinks. You can't beat their daily specials, though. Super cheap, and it comes with a mini cupcake! The Cove is great. So is Green, which has really become a much better restaurant than when I lived there.
