The mouse is SO cute!!

I want to show off my tatting now that I've figured out how to do it, but flickr won't let me sign in (password is good, it just get's stuck processing it or something). Maybe I need to figure out a different photo place.

Thank you!

That would be cool to see, I hope you can get them to work! I don't think I'd ever get tattoos myself but I really like looking at other peoples'.

Ooh, sorry! I wasn't talking about tattoos... I was talking about tatting as in lace making... so it seemed relevant to this thread.

Got the photos working:
My first project, 1 shuttle. I'll sew this to a pillowcase and send it to my grandma who taught me all sorts of crafty stuff.
Image

2nd project... mostly to learn 2 shuttle tatting. A basic rosette.
Image

And my current project, way thinner thread and two shuttles. It took me a bit to figure out the pattern, and by a bit I mean 17 restarts. I'll make a hanky edging with this. Sorry the photo is meh, I've already packed my camera and am making do with my phone. The shuttles are 2.5" long, to give a sense of scale.

whoa! amazing!! i want to learn that! i've been working on this crochet doily forever! it's barely started and I've already started it over 10 times. Hearing about 17 restarts makes me feel a bit better!

My bad! I figured tattooing was artsy as well so that would fit in here, and I had never heard the term tatting before, so we all know what happens when you assume ;) That is really cool!!

It is fun, and SO portable (unlike my knitting projects). I asked everyone that I know over the age of 60 and nobody knew how to tat to teach me, although many of them had mothers or older relatives that tatted, so I have some tatting that my great grandma did! I ended up figuring it out with a crappy book 4 years ago (yep, 4 years to finish the pillowcase edging... I'm faster now). Now there are some good videos online which show some of the stuff, but there was still a lot of trial and error for me to figure out 2 shuttle tatting and pattern reading.

Crochet is hard! I never quite got the hang of it. Good luck on the doily ijdi!

I also have tattoos, but this seems more of a fiber arts thread so I'll stick with the tattoo thread for my ink :)

I recently discovered string art and now I'm doing all sorts of things, like this:

And I also finally finished the living room curtains! I had sewed them two years ago and then it took me forever to find a nice decoration to paint, but finally I did it! Detail:

Thanks Pi.! It's fun and depending on the number of nails can also be pretty quick. I inherited a huge bag of cotton from my bf's grandmother, which she used for crocheting but it's perfect for this too. Just finished a plaque for some friends getting married and I am super happy with the result, I even routed the plaque myself.
