I'm thinking of making a necklace with black feathers but all the feathers I have found online are from birds. Does anyone know where I can get artificial ones from? Are they really that hard to find or am I not looking hard enough?? Ideally I'd want them from somewhere in the UK, but if not then from somewhere online which won't cost me too much in the way of shipping. I can always dye them if they're not black.
A friend of mine looked around for synthetic feathers as we wanted to use a lot of them in a theatre piece, and she is allergic to bird feathers, but they don't seem to be available. The brightly coloured ones in craft shops which I'd always assumed were fake are actually dyed turkey feathers (sometimes with 1% plastic added). I have seen fake peacock feathers for sale, but they're made of silk, so still not vegan. You'd probably be best off searching for the threads in this sub-forum about making feathers from fabric or fake fur.

I've never seen fake feathers in a store, but there you could try making these (the second post has another version).
