(this thread inspired by the Plus Size Fashion Conscious ladies!
and The Stitch n bisque Thread!
- but I think a much more specific question)
I have nowadays size 50/52 (swedish) / 24/26 (UK) / 22+ (US) [If I got the conversions right] and all my old patterns are for at most 46/48 (swedish) (which size I had for years until tight budgets forced me on an "carb-overload mealplan"). I have tried to scale some of these patterns up but am not too happy with the results since my figure has changed too much.
I need some new ideas for dresses which do fit this size and my figure. I have plenty of sewing experience (since I never was too happy with the ready-made stuff in the shops mostly for size-and-colour-reasons). I am I guess rather tall (171 cm) (which should equal 5 feet and 7.3228 inches according to online calculations) but have very
marked hips and thighs.
The normal "Burda" stuff found here in Sweden I often find to "sack-like". I can't afford to buy overseas patterns right now but have some experience with grafting my own patterns as well.
I really like "fantasy style"-clothing (and even steampunk-like and goth-like fashions) but it needs to be practical as well and be usable in "normal life" too.
Have you sewn anything in plus sizes which you were very happy with and which pattern you could recommend?
