I'm on my second Apple laptop, and this is the second time the CD drive has failed. When the first one crapped out, it was just the CD drive - it stopped reading CDs, but it still read DVDs. The same thing happened to my MacBook - it started out with CDs, but now it's moved onto DVDs. I'm obviously not buying a new laptop, and from what I've read, it might not be something that can be repaired. I guess I could look into it, but it'll probably be cheaper to just buy an external drive. So, can any Mac users recommend an external CD/DVD drive? Is there a specific brand I'd have to buy? Can I use an external drive with a Mac (as far as compatibility issues)?

You can use any external as long as you can plug it in.

You can also easily replace your internal drive.

Check out newegg.com and tiger direct.com
