can you teach me how to use the wacom tablet I just got? I'm so intimidated by it.

For real! fabulousmuscles, you have some serious skillz. Now i just feel lazy for doing simple retouching with my fancy pad. Go work on a movie or somethin'!!

I just kind of do it... I don't really know. It's touch/pressure sensitive, so you can vary the line weight, which is nice, and it doesn't come out all clean and proper like most things in illustrator, which I like--I use photoshop anyway to paint in. I just sketch, layer painted bits, mess with the opacity, just like you would if you were working with layering oil paints. I don't use the fancy brushes, just the regular solid one at different sizes. I don't think any of that made sense. I can't teach people for shiitake. The best advice I can give is not to over think the tablet, just draw, build, and layer. After a few minutes you should get used to how the stroke your hand is making translates to what you see on the screen. Needless to say, look at the screen, don't look at your hand.

Before I had the wacom one I worked with a shitty tablet that was meant for windows, but the idea is basically the same. I have a bad habit of applying too much pressure, though, which is totally unnecessary. I think that comes from using messy inks to do pieces in the real world when I'm not on the computer.

I wish I just did this for a living instead of doing web design/programming. Once I'm done designing my blog (it's just a wordpress template now) I'm going to try to advertise custom portraiture and open up a zazzle printshop or something.

When I draw naked people they usually end up looking like ralph steadman threw up all over the paper. They also get industrial nipples that look like they've been riveted on.

If I can find my clown painting I'll post it for you--he has industrial nipples for eyes and his shoes are just gosh darn adorable.

Autumn Vegan, I LOVE YOUR DRAWINGS. I too studied photography in school, but I kind of regret not studying sculpture. Maybe I'm just a little disillusioned with the photo world, BUT YOU SHOULD STUDY ILLUSTRATION. If you make a zine, I will buy one.

These are pictures of some of my framed drawings I took by laying them down on the floor and taking a photo, hence the poor quality. I drew these all while in and shortly after highschool (15 yrs ago) and have lost all motivation to pick this up again. With the exception of the last one, they are all done using a rapidograph with stippling and cross-hatching:
