Last night I tried cross stitch for the very first time! It's super easy and fast, I started, finished, and framed my first project last night:

A little more about my project on my blog:

That is so cute.

My sister bought me a cross-stitch set for christmas and I had so much fun with it that I cannot wait to try my next project.

I got my kit at my local craft shop, but Subversive Cross Stitch sells their kits online:

I've never used a kit, and I really don't think they're necessary. There are so many patterns available for free online, and as long as you can count, you can stitch. I usually stitch videogame-related stuff, and find heaps of patterns and ideas at Sprite Stitch. But you should definitely start, it's super easy and fun and relaxing.

You can easily create your own patterns from any image using a photo editing program (including a free one like GIMP). I need to finish my Dinosaur Comics T-Rex one of these days.

Or you can just use graph paper and coloured pencils, which is mostly what I've been doing since seeing these adorable Firefly patterns. Plus, I just like colouring stuff in.

I love cross stitch. For patterns I have a whole stack of magazines, and a couple of books.

I find Amazon to be the best place to find patterns online, and books.

Oh my goodness, cross stitch is the best. It's so easy and fun! I just went into a cross stitch frenzy that's lasted about a month; I am stashing away some patterns and photos for a craft blog I'd like to do, maybe next year? I'd love to publish tons of free patterns for fellow craftsters, I'll let you guys know when they're up!

I have an exam that I've had to study for tomorrow night, but after that's done I'm getting started on a Breaking Bad cross stitch for my brother for Christmas (yeah, I get my brother cross stitched stuff and cat paraphenalia for Christmas, he loves it). Super excited to get back into it, it's been a little while since I had the time!

I was pretty in to cross stitching about 2 years ago. I'm pretty convinced it helped me recover from neck surgery a lot faster. I started this pretty awesome Alaska piece for Fred's mom and never finished it. She'll be here in a few days. I should dust it off and give it to her already.

I made this for my brother for Christmas!

The face part is the most complicated cross stitch I've ever done, it's all blended threads and fractional stitches. It's way more detailed than it looks here. Super fun though!
