BBCode allows you to add alt tags to images so that folks using screenreaders can tell what the hell it is. Like this:

Code:
[img alt="Monkey eating a banana while making a funny facial expression"]Monkey eating a banana while making a funny facial expression[/img]

but when I try to do that here, it doesn't work. Do you have an older version of BBCode, maybe? And if so, would you upgrade it so *everyone* can appreciate the ridiculous photos I post?

Here's a test to make sure that it really, really doesn't work and it isn't just my preview -

Image w/out alt text:

Huh. Apparently phpBB does not fully support BBCode as it's defined. Since we won't be radically changing the board software anytime soon, the best I could do is offer an alternate BBCode tag that does allow for alt text. Maybe.

Alright, it works. Use the pix tag if you want to post an image with alt text. You must add alt text if you use the pix tag or else it won't work right. It'll stick around until I'm tired of answering questions about the pix tag.

Here's the syntax

Code:
[pix alt=(your caption)](the URL of your image)[/pix]
