I posted a recipe before that had chicken broth in it and they said that you have to say you must sub vegetable broth. So now I posted another recipe that had one anchovie in it and I said remove the anchovie to make vegan. And they locked the thread. I'm sure a lot of people on here don't like me because I speak my mind and think people should think for themselves. i.e. use your brain and sub one thing for another without having to be told. Some people on here seem to be offended by everything to the extent that they have decided to hold me to different standards because I offended their fragile sensibilities. So I'm just going to have to cancel my account and start another one. And stop using the word "partner" to describe your boyfriend or girlfriend. And stop eating all of that processed garbage. Have some self respect and eat real food.

And I'm sure this thread will be deleted too because heaven forbid any kind of debate.

Is a pile of tots on top of a bowl of sloppy joe filling "real food"? I certainly hope so.

Why the snarkiness? I'm trying to make a point that for most part the vegan community has stagnated in a mire of fake foods that didn't exist twenty years ago.. And that many vegans refuse to grow or look at anything unless it has a 100% Vegan stamp on it. Close-minded extreme thinking gets you nowhere.

I actually meant Daiya pineapple and Yves Canadian bacon pizza. But now I'm thinking I could skip the pesky sauce thing and just use bottled Italian.

Being a vegan that doesn't like vegetables is like being a dog that doesn't like licking his privates.

we just ask that you don't post recipes/photos of food that's not vegan. it's pretty straightforward. your thread will be unlocked.

but...this thread kind of begs the question: if you're so frustrated by so much of the content on here, why do you stick around? (note: this is a rhetorical question. i really don't need an answer.)

Your initial post was pretty snarky. And if you think that we only talk about or eat "fake foods," you must not read very many thread or look at much food porn.

I will even go so far as to point out that perpetuating stereotypes is a hallmark of close-minded extreme thinking.

But I am having processed crepe for dinner tonight, and I'm happy about it.

For the record, I do, indeed, only grow vegan food. I try not to plant cow or chicken seeds in my garden. The pest control is too horrific.

this is a pretty unfair assessment of the myriad threads we have on here about vegan cooking, gardening, etc.

next time, (if this flounce doesn't stick) if you feel like a thread was unfairly locked you can report it or PM a mod and ask why. I think we were pretty polite the first time when we enforced the no non vegan recipes rule. again, you've intimated that people who can't figure out a sub for non vegan ingredients are idiots. that's really not the issue here. like calcy said, we can all look up non vegan recipes on our own and figure out easy subs on our own. non vegan recipes are all over the internet. that's why it's nice to have a vegan forum where we can just expect to find vegan stuff. hope that makes sense. i'm gonna go eat some fritos with my partner.

I stick around because I find some useful information on here and I also like to share what I find. It's the sarcastic people who don't have anything constructive to say that annoy me. And I'm sure a lot of people on this board feel the same way I do they just don't say anything because this forum isn't really known for allowing even the smallest degree of dissent. It's a shame too because veganism could be so much better and more respected if people would just learn how to cook and throw off the yoke of convenience foods. And just because you can cook a few things between your boca burger fixes doesn't mean you know how to cook.

And I'm sure yours is full of never ending sarcasm and lots of television. It's OK to have an opinion and be vocal about it.

we've already thrown off the yolk of convenience foods (easily substituted by flax seed and applesauce).

You know we have several cookbook authors, right?

Anyway, go to the Vegan Freak forums, and THEN come back and complain that we're all stifled.

P.S. I don't like Boca Burgers.

hey, remember, you flounced. the recipe thing wasn't THAT big of a deal. the mods are just trying to keep things vegan. I'm not sure how you turned this into a thing about people not knowing how to cook.

however, most of what you have shared (on these new forums, anyway) has been nonvegan. and it's been expressly requested that you not do that.

i get that you're annoyed by the snarkiness going on - and you're not alone - but creating threads like this doesn't seem to help, does it?

again, i think you're being unfair to users here in your assessment, but think what you want. it's of no consequence to anyone else. and if you really don't believe that we allow for any dissent, i encourage you to find a place that is more suitable to your needs.

I'm being completely serious and curious here:

have you read Isa's blog? Have you read all the cookbook review threads, or the threads about what to do with <new neat produce item from CSA box >, or threads like the one I started about favorite ways to cook tofu that turned out to be fun and popular? Have you ever seen kmouse's amazing mediterrean food porn?

I used to eat a lot of Boca burgers and similar until I became vegan and found this forum. I learned to cook here; more importantly, I learned to enjoy cooking.

Yeah, many of us enjoy vegan junk food. What's wrong with that? There are also raw vegans here, gluten-free people, gourmet cooks, students living in dorm rooms, and everyone in between.

This forum is a wealth of great information, advice, and encouragement for people learning to cook. I'm sad that you seem unable to see all of this.
