Sounds pretty awesome! I hope it actually can deliver, though I'm actually already pretty happy with the vegg. http://www.hamptoncreekfoods.com/beyond ... oducts.phpThe pictures of the baked goods are really intriguing.

That looks interesting! It's function is different to The Vegg because it seems to emulate the properties of the white more than the yolk. It would be great if it really works to make an egg-like texture & work as a binder in baked goods. I wonder what's in it though? It's very white...the hollandaise looks a bit pallid. It's also written as though it's geared towards trade, not the consumer market.

Yeah, I'm curious as to what's in it too. I also think it's a little weird that they're calling it Beyond Egg when they don't seem to be at all connected with the Beyond Meat people.

I thought the same thing. And what's weird is that Beyond Egg is Hampton Creek Foods whereas Beyond Meat was Savage River Farms. Kinda similar, ya know?

PPK, write them and let them know if it is as good as advertised we would be all over it, as would many people who are concerned with allergies. The contact link says they respond quickly. I'm leaving the window open so I'll remember to do the contact later tonight.

And indeed, look how they bill themselves in an online contest to name them: "Startup food company that sells ingredients to major food companies. We want to communicate a product brand that is mainstream + natural. Think General Mills or Whole Foods or Savage River Farms. Examples of possible names: Rockport Foods; Native Foods (my favorite); Hampton Creek Foods; Buckminster Foods; Cooper Canyon Foods; Boulder Foods. Soon-to-be launched site: http://on.fb.me/xMMM10 Our first product is a plant-based egg ingredient called, Beyond Eggs. (Note: Corny names = Loser names)." http://www.namingforce.com/assignment/5249/

I don't care that they like the name beyond meat came up with for their company (or indeed care about the name theft in general except that I hope they don't get into a legal battle and I lose out on cheap vegan eggness), but it seems shortsighted to rip off both your company and product names, especially from the same source.

I'm so excited about this. I don't really care if it's available retail immediately, there's potential something like this could save the lives of millions of animals if it's used instead of eggs in nonvegan products.

I actually think Beyond Eggs came first, I had heard about it using that name over a year ago. Savage River Farm's sent out an email announcing the name Beyond Meat May 17th. Soooooo.

I want it! If it can make meringue or pâte à choux, then they BETTER make it available for retail consumers...

If this can make a vegan angel food cake, there's basically nothing left that can't be veganized.

It looks absolutely amazing. I hope it's as good as it looks. I'll write them as soon as I have a few spare brain cells. I'm pretty drained right now and afraid I won't make much sense in my current state.

I'm curious to see what's in the product. Will it actually be vegan? Will it ever be sold anywhere?

It's definitely vegan, they're just using terms like "plant based" to appeal to the mainstream.

I don't like "plant-based." It always makes me think of the movies that start with "based on a true story" and how very far from the true story they usually are.
