I remember one time when my friends and I were trying to make hall food taste better we made a bowl out of random stuff from the buffet bar. It was: white rice+avocado+pineapple+tofu+plantains+salsa.

I love bowls! More bowls for 2013! I love how versatile they are, pretty much steam/saute everything in the fridge with a grain and sauce... Made a really random one just a couple days ago that worked out really well.
Roasted sweet potato cubes (with hot chilis, salt, pepper, oil) Lightly sauteed broccoli Fresh greens Panfried smoked tofu cubes finished with a bit of soy sauce in the pan Brown jasmine rice Sauce: didn't know if this would work, but it totally did- made the recipe for green curry from paste and instead of adding protein and veggies to make the curry, just threw in some small dice potatoes and a handful of quinoa to thicken it, when the potatoes were done I poured it on the bowl and topped with these amazing Korean red pepper threads as garnish.
Creamy thick coconutty spicy curry sauce made everything good.

That curry one sounds yummy! I'll have to remember curry paste as an easy way to make a bowl sauce.
I just made the green onion-miso dressing from AFR. It's a bit watery, but we didn't want to add too much extra oil since I'm been PMS binge eating salt and vinegar chips all weekend.
I need to spice up the bowl ingredients, though. Tonight I'm just having: black eyed peas, quinoa, steamed broccoli and carrots, and maybe some sauteed mushrooms and a quick tomato/cucumber salad. I don't have too many veggies in the fridge right now. I've got some kale on its last leg that I might steam up as well, but feeling a little meh about the mix. Hoping the dressing makes it interesting.

Ever since someone mentioned it to me yesterday, I've kind of been daydreaming about making a bowl of caulipots, kale, corn, little fried bits of seitan and mushroom gravy. Not the healthiest ever, but, um, want want want.

I literally eat the same bowl over and over. I need to change it up.
I make my warm chickpea artichoke quinoa salad. I make a HUGE batch and eat it for days at a time. I never get sick of it. It was inspired by the chickpea quinoa salad in vegan yum yum.
Its quinoa, chickpeas, artichoke, halved cherry tomatoes, pea shoots, lemon juice, , TJs chickenless strips, olive oil salt and oregano.

Last night I made bowls with the sesame napa cabbage salad from Q&E Low-Cal Vegan Comfort Food, some smoked tofu, and sushi rice - no sauce because the salad was petty saucy. It was pretty good, but it would've been more sushi-y with some nori.

My amazing partner replicated the BBQ bowl from Native Bowls - BBQ sauce (from Vegan Diner), soy curls, brown rice, and a coleslaw made from carrots and broccoli stems. I couldn't get enough!

I had leftover Vegan Diner gravy once and made a bowl with kale, roasted red potatoes and breaded tofu topped with that gravy. basically the best thing ever.

Tonight I sautéed some garlic & spring greens, threw in some leftover azuki beans and brown rice & then used the miso/hot water method from the Udon Noodle & Greens dish in AFR to make a quick sauce. It was really good.
I love the idea of some kinda caulipots/soy curls bowl. Maybe with corn & gravy.

I'm a bowl junkie! But, in my mind a bowl must include something fermented...KRAUT is krucial or something?!
Anyway, my basic favorite is either brown rice or quinoa, garlicky kale/ spinach/ chard/ beet greens (whatever is on hand), shredded raw veggies like carrots, cucumber, etc., black beans, steamed sweet potato or kabocha squash, kraut, avocado, and a lemony-tahini dressing. I eat some variation of this at least four times a week for lunch.
Cafe Gratitude (I know) does nice bowls. They have a red lentil one that is AMAZING with curried red lentils, quinoa, spinach, sweet potato and some mix of tamarind and mint sauces that I find irresistible... Even if it is krautless.

Last night I made a great dinner bowl: basmati rice, steamed tofu and broccoli, fresh spinach with the carrot ginger dressing from AFR, sriracha, and soy sauce.

I was inspired by this thread to make a bowl for dinner last night. It was boiled chopped potatoes, smokey temph. In the same pan that I cooked the temph I sautéd a small onion then added sauerkraut until it was warm. Topped with a cashew sour cream, pickled shredded beets and fresh parsley. It was yummy!

I wanted to try the bowl concept and use up som leftovers:
- quinoa (I also wanted to give quinoa another chance, I haven't liked it before) - falafel (leftover) - mashed sweet potatos and apples, from AFR (leftover) - steamed savoy cabbage - creamy horseradish dressing from AFR - cannelini beans from a can
It was good, but the falafel didn't really go with the rest. Loved the dressing, it was nice and sharp. I think it would go well with japan-ish food if one used wasabi instead of regular horseradish.

Last night was clean out the fridge of veggies bowl. I started with red quinoa and added sauted bok choy, broccoli and carrot shreds, criminis, peas, corn, kale, chickpeas, and roasted brussels sprouts. I topped it with the red hot tahini sauce that comes from Isa's Hoppin john bowl. I only wish I had some leftovers for lunch today. It was awesome!

Tonight I made bowls with mixed baby leaf salad, Isa's Italian sausage (the most recent recipe), roasted cauliflower, brown basmati, and AFR Green Goddess dressing. It was so good, and so filling.
