I don't know about the drink yoghurt but I've eaten alpro yoghurts that were longer past their use by date (like closer to a month).

I use alpro yoghurts past their date quite a bit because I get them through foodsaving sometimes. I think if you open the package and it smells normal and looks normal, you are fine.

That said, we recently got ones that were over a year old. We didn't even open them, I did not want to try and find out.

Thanks, guys! I'll give it a try. I've eaten Alpro yogurt cups that were a bit over date, but I was doubting. I'll give it a try.

Regarding the FYH vegan gourmet shreds, I opened them yesterday (the one dated the 23rd) and used it on pizza, resealed the pack and put it back in the fridge...opened it up today and ew, the shreds had gone green! So quickly! Were they already bad yesterday? I have the other, closer dated one in the freezer and am worried about that now.

When beans go bad they go dangerously bad. Admittedly I was taught this by my gran who may have learned it before refridgeration was common (presumably yours has been in the fridge for those 11 days?) but I wouldn't eat it.

Bummer! I had some Daiya shreds that were frozen since purchase that were moldy. I would just check your frozen bag thoroughly (dump them out into another container to get a good look at everything) before you use it -- it should be fairly obvious if it's moldy.

It didn't smell bad, but I threw it out, just to be safe.

So I put a some dried chickpeas into a bowl of water to soak... On Monday night. Then I got sick and have yet to boil/freeze/use them. Are they still safe? They're still in the water from Monday.

I think it depends on the temp of your kitchen. If it was on the cooler side, I'd try cooking them, and if they cook normally and smell okay, I'd eat them. (I am not a doctor, and make no guarentees that you should just cause I would)

Double Concentrated Tomato Paste in a tube. The tube says "Refrigerate after opening and consume within 2 weeks."

I see no reason why it would go bad in 2 weeks (unopened it lasts unrefrigerated until 2/24/2017), but can't find any guidance online.

Thanks in advance!!!

I dunno. I'd probably taste a bit if it looks normal.

Tomato paste used to be the bane of my cooking existence. Now I just automatically freeze it in 1 tablespoon lumps as soon as I open it.

Oh, I usually just store that stuff in a cupboard, for months. I've never gotten sick from it.

ok my package of Nasoya silken tofu (water-packed) was all expanded, like air had gotten in or something, but looks and smells fine. I know how horrid tofu that's gone off is, but do ya think this stuff is safe? is the expanded package due to air - and probably bacteria with it - getting in or would there be a different reason? The tofu itself doesn't look like it accidentally got frozen or anything.

Tofu is something I would not take a chance on.

Fwiw, I ate tofu not long ago which had been leaking (it had been refrigerated but obviously wasn't airtight). I was fine. I've also eaten fresh tofu in slightly puffy packaging. I was fine.
If it were me, I'd try a tiny bit raw and if it was at all 'fizzy' tasting, bin it. But I grew up on food that was past it's sell-by date so maybe I have dodgy food super powers or something.

I don't think I would risk it with a swollen package if it's not usually like that, I'd return it to the store or tell the manufacturers.

Yep, swelling to me indicated bacterial growth and bacterial growth can indicate toxins.

I'd say no because I always do. My dad would have said to eat it and follow up with a bowl of chili if it ends up bad. A bowl of chili was his cure all for intestinal ailments of all sorts including acute food poisoning caused by bad shrimp.

The thing is, one time we had bad silken tofu it was really rank/sour smelling and this... just smelled like tofu.

Vacuum sealed, shelf-stable (unrefrigerated), and not bulging, smells fine? I would eat that, no worries. If it's the fresh stuff and has been in your fridge all this time, then no.

I bought a two-pack of molasses at Costco last spring or summer and put one of them in my cupboard. I finished the first one last week, took the second out and the container is bulgy. It was in a one litre sealed container (a tetra pack like shelf stable soy milk), my kitchen is rarely over 22C, it doesn't smell or look bad, and the best before date is September 28, 2016.

According to my internet research it is very likely not bad but the bulging container puzzles me.

Can you decant it into something glass so you can have a look at it and inside the tetrapak? If there's no mould, and it smells normal, I think I'd go for it - but Facebook has been full of pictures this week of baaaad mould inside a sealed tetrapak of apple juice.
