Does anyone know of any good commercial brands of vegan mayo that are completely soy-free? My local health store only sells vegenaise, so I haven't had much luck finding any. Or if anyone knows a simple DIY recipe that would be great. I've come across a Rice Milk recipe that seems a bit involved, but if there's nothing else I'll give that a whirl.

Yeah, I'm good with nuts, just can't find many raw nuts in my area.

I've used this recipe in the past using unsweetened almond milk rather than soy milk and it has turned out great. It's not that involved and most of the time spent on preparation is just waiting for the finished product to chill before you can actually use it. It tastes just as good as veganaise in my opinion! Also, veganaise does sell a soy-free variety. Maybe you could ask the owners of your health food store to start carrying it?

Vegenaise also has a soy-free version; if your health food store carries that, they should be able to carry the soy-free!

Yeah I'd ask your store to carry the soy-free version, but it wouldn't be bad to try making your own.

I don't think so. I went on their website and all the Vegenaise products contain soy.

I didn't see it on their site either, but after seeing this thread, I did a google search and found it here http://www.veganstore.com/product/soy-free-vegenaise/new-productsHave emailed my local Whole Foods because that way I wont have to pay for a cold pack and shipping.

I had given up looking. I have no idea, but my mother (who owns a health-food store) started carrying it within the last few weeks because she was getting some requests for soy-free vegan mayo. So it exists; I've seen it in person! (Haven't tasted it, though.) And her main supplier is UNFI, which supplies most health-food stores (including Whole Foods).

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I am definitely going to check out the recipes.
I didn't know vegenaise offered a soy-free version either, I will ask at our store for them to bring some in. My store only offers the regular version, since I suspect my town lacks very many vegans.

Same, all the sites seem to be foreign, but I would love to get my hands on some of that.

I had no idea that they sold a soy-free veganaise. i can't eat soy for the next few months and I have been craving veganaise! I looked on their website and I don't see it either. I will have to ask my whole foods to carry it. This would be so great if i could get this stuff.
Oh and Bryanna Clark Grogan does have a recipe that looks pretty good....................... Nothing beats Veganaise tho!

I saw FYH post this on their FB a few days ago. I had no idea! Apparently it's made from pea protein.

Hey,
So I tried the mayo I made in the following application:
Trader Joes Whole Wheat Tuscan Bread (my fave) Field Roast Tomato Veggie Slices Baby Romaine Almond Mayo (mentioned above)
It was so flippin good! The mayo was not as thick as I would have liked but it waas good enough, the flavor to me is spot on to veganaise. I think the thickness has to do with the protein content in the soy milk and lack of protein in the almond milk, not sure though it could have been something I did wrong. It was still thick just not as thick as it should have been, I read somewhere that it could be the protein content. Anyway, it is def worth a try on your part. Soy-free Veganaise will be sold in more stores by the end of the month, according to someone I spoke to at the company.
Good luck and let me know how yours comes out.

I'm glad it turned out so well! Did you use cold almond milk? Perhaps that had something to do with it not emulsifying as well. I am going to try it later tonight and see what happens. The sandwich sounds so yummy and simple too :) If this works out, I probably wouldn't even bother with the vegenaise, as it is SO expensive here.
