It looks sort of gross. And it's not the first. Ppkers have been experimenting with making a vegan fried egg, and some of them posted pictures that were much prettier than that thing.

It looks kind of like a melted gum drop, but I'd be curious to see how it tastes.

Call me old-fashioned, but I like frying a slice of tofu with some nooch and black salt and calling it a day.
Maybe it doesn't replicate an egg exactly, but that is one of the benefits of the multiple years vegan belt -- it tastes egglike enough for me.

Not the first. There is a joint in town called 24 Carrots that did fried eggs a few weeks ago. Yolk and all: http://www.facebook.com/24Carrots#!/pho ... =1&theaterBTW, if you ever visit AZ this place is the best (albeit little known) veg joint in town.

Yeah, it's pretty rancid looking, like someone left a (hen's) fried egg out on the counter for 3 days.

I'd eat it. But I always kind of hate when vegan products market themselves as the "world's first" because usually there's like 9 million other vegan recipes for it out there already. And in this case there definitely is, I made that water+tapioca starch+black salt egg like a billion times. It's good.

Yepp, I've seen vegan fried eggs before. This is definitely not the first and I'm cool with just cooking up some tofu.

Personally, I hate eggs, it's not even a vegan thing, they just yuck me out. I don't even like talking about 'em. However, I just wanted to say that yours looks like a great attempt.

I'm with everyone else who votes no; it looks like rubber.
My childhood household never ate fried eggs, so I feel no need to replace them. Kudos to the chefs who did, though.

I guess what they really mean is it's The World's First Commercially Available Vegan Fried Egg.
But I agree with everyone else, the 'yolk' is too translucent and it looks kinda icky.
