My partner and I have been invited to a Love Actually party in December. We're looking for some great vegetarian London dishes. Any ideas? Help us, please :)

So you want typically London-associated recipes? A dark, rich mushroom pie with mashed potatoes and parsley liquor would be very typical of traditional East London food.

Parsley Liquor for four servings

25 ml oil
25 g plain flour
300 ml water or vegetable stock
4 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 tsp malt vinegar, optional

Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually add the water or stock. Bring to the boil, stirring continuously.
Add the parsley and seasoning and vinegar if using.

But then bagels and curry are also traditional East London fare :-)

When I think of England I think of Indian/Pakistani food and roast dinner.
