hey y'all. i've been absent for awhile so forgive me if this has already been posted.

i was at the grocery store the other day and noticed the o'soy packaging has changed, now there is the heart logo for vegan certified on the yogurt. and of course the allergen warning of 'contains milk' is now gone too, prior to this o'soy stoneyfield organics grew their live active cultures on milk (however that works)
http://vegan.org/certify/

i'm truly assuming stonyfield must be using something else to grow their live cultures because otherwise people with certified milk allergies could get quite ill from consuming the yogurt (traces of milk perhaps?)

anyone hear anything about this? i bought a pack and while it's not amazing like whole soy, mainly probably because strawberry and peach are not my most favorite yogurt flavors, it's quite good, and so convenient, it's always out of the way (and much more pricier) for me to go to the natural food grocery store to get vegan soy or coconut based yogurt.

this is what my grocery store carries: https://www.stonyfield.com/products/yog ... erry-peach

anyone else been buying this now???

....this is a joke, right? You are pulling my leg, right? O'Soy is sold in most mainstream grocery stores so I can finally have pretty cheap vegan yogurt?

I love you.

I posted about this in the yogurt crisis thread, but obviously people missed it so it's good you made a new thread. I was disappointed by o'soy, unfortunately, though it was a product I'd always been curious about since it was so readily available and it was so close to being vegan. It was just gritty and weird and I haven't bought it again.

Also, I want to say that I'm really grateful to Vegan Action for their certification program. It makes finding products a lot easier and encourages some companies to make their products completely vegan. It's awesome.

Is this real life?! No one tell Publix or they'll discontinue it just to spite me.

Yes! And unsweetened too. I need yogurt that doesn't have a zillion calories from sugar, and I need yogurt that I can use for making Indian sauces, and dips and salad dressings and other savory things.

it is true that whole soy is much better than o'soy, and admittedly, the texture of o'soy was a tiny bit gritty, but honestly, after consuming a bunch of o'soy recently, i'm used to it now. the vegan yogurts at my health food store are so darn pricey. for convenience sake, i will gladly keep buying o'soy again and again.

Check out the soy yogurt shortage thread. Lots of talk about homemade yogurt there.

I just had to google this shiitake and the PPK thread is like the only info about it. Thanks PPK.

That happens to me a lot, i'll google something and there's a PPK thread near the top and i'm like, "Duh, should've checked there first."

Is O'Soy still really sweet? That's what I ate before I went vegan and I remember it being sweet, I tried Silk (pour one out for their old formula) and it took me a long time to get used to the reduced sweetness.

i thought the o'soy was hella sweet and it has a weird taste. michael likes it though and we can find it pretty easily at our regular supermarket (which whole soy hasn't returned to yet).
