Okay we are having Thanksgiving on Tuesday or Wednesday now! I've paired it down a bit. The seitan wellington, marmite/madeira gravy, hasselback potatoes, Brussels sprouts crema.
I dunno if I'll bother with dessert! But I want to do the Scottish trifle after some strong feelings about it courtesy of the Scottish PPK contingent.

Mmm. Tofu pot pie. I think that will have to be one of the dishes I make this year.
I know we'll end up going for a very non-vegan thanksgiving at my partners family house, which honestly, I'm less than excited about. The smell of cooked turkey makes me want to barf.
Other stuff: Mashed Potaters with gravy (my favourite recipe right now is out of Colleen Patrick-Goudreu's The 30-day vegan challenge) Baked yams. Maybe a pumpkin pie. orange and black pepper cranberry sauce Stuffing stuffing stuffing (my face) something acorn squash for sure.

Shymox - you can always try a lentil or a nut loaf for thanksgiving with an awesome gravy of some sort. They're one of my fav things this time of year.
A big part of me wants to try field roast - I've never been able to justify the cost, but I think I could manage for the holiday! I might go the untraditional route though but use some traditional ingredients, like sweet potato and/or butternut squash ravoil, or something like that.

My sister hates lentils, honestly I think she'd be suspicious of a nut roast but I'll look into it. Maggie Muggins wrote: Robynn wrote: Hmmm no idea yet, but thanks for the post as it's got me thinking about it. Not sure if it is just going to be me or if my SO will be home, so that will alter the meal quite a bit. Maybe a trip to Calgary for teapot's thanksgiving will be in order as she usually goes all out. What are you making Maggie Muggins? Me and P are going to Teapot's. I'm going to make a slow roasted seitan roast and maybe either a dessert or some biscuits or rolls depending on what she is already making. You should totally come down! Shymox, Bryanna Clark Grogan's tofu pot pie is delicious! I couldn't find the recipe online but I have a copy on my computer at home if you'd like it. I wouldn't mind! Other than the little Amy's shepherd's pies I haven't had a good vegan pot pie yet. I told my sister, "what about making a pot pie?" And she was all for it...provided the only veggies are carrot and turnip. I'm sure she'll be cool with other things like chickpeas and obviously potato, but she drives me insane with how picky she is.

Bumping since it's this weekend.
I'm definitely making pumpkin dinner rolls, seitan roast and a pumpkin pie.

I'm not Canadian, but since US Thanksgiving always has to involve me going to the in-laws for a very vegan unfriendly meal (it's even vegetarian unfriendly - like chicken broth in the mashed potatoes) I've decided to make my own TG meal on Canadian TG. You guys don't mind do you?
I'm doing a 3 course "fruits of fall" theme from Vcon served with a wine for each course.
1st course: Pear and Endive Salad with Maple Candied Pecans with Reisling 2nd course: Pumpkin Baked Ziti with Caramelized Onions and Sage Crumb Topping with Pinot Noir 3rd course: Individual Heart-Shaped Apple Galettes with a Tawny Port style dessert wine

I'm making Voluptuous Vegan's moussaka with bechamel sauce and sauteed Swiss chard with olives and for dessert an apple streusel cake from the same book.
Numz.

Terri_to, only $20 per person, what a bargain! The weather here went all crazy summery so I am going camping this afternoon on Mahone Bay.
I did make Isa's pumpkin waffles this morning and hopefully will get some pumpkin pie done tomorrow before too late, with some delicious veggies. I bought some Soyatoo and want to try it out.
Tonight's dinner will be Yve's hot dogs roasted over a fire with FSTG Olive tortilla chips and salsa, and Garrison beer. Then I am going to try and roast some of the tiny Dandies I bought in Calgary.

We went to my parents and ate outside of all places! Amazing how warm it is this year but it was the perfect setting for nut loaf, apple/raisin stuffing, mushroom gravy, cranberry sauce, roasted potatoes, carrots and brussel sprouts, followed by a pumpkin pie, apple pie cheesecake and some whipped topping. I doubt it could have been better!

Mmm everyone's menus sound so good. We're in the US, but my partner is Candian so yesterday I said we should make a thanksgiving meal today. Any excuse for thanksgiving food is good with me. :-)
So today I am going to make:
Celebration roast (had it in the freezer since last winter, hope it doesn't kill us) + herb gravy Dill Green Beans Chipotle Lime Sweet Potatoes Delicata Squash stuffed with Wild/Brown Rice + Balasamic drizzle sauce Roasted Cauliflower
I have some mimicream in the cabinet but no time for dessert today. But my son was born on Candian thanksgiving last year, so we had banana cake on Saturday, and will again next Saturday, so at least there's some desserts then.
