My dad is in Taiwan at the moment and he was asking me if I there might be any interesting foodie ingredients that he could pick up for me while he was there (he's staying in Taipei). I haven't really got a clue as to what he could get there that might be so particular I couldn't get it here in the Asian supermarkets downtown, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to know!

I'm not sure what you already have available to you but i brought home a few things that i considered unique or were super cheap in Taiwan. I bought vegan pork floss, duck sauce, minced meat in a can (to go on sesame noodles), sesame paste for noodles that was somehow different from tahini, fermented spicy tofu in a jar... that's all i remember but i think there was more.
There are tons of fake meat products but most needed to be refrigerated.

Aw, thanks for your response, but my father is probably at the airport by now...nevermind! I'm sure he's probably picked up a few things!
