Last Sunday, I tried to buy avocados at Trader Joe's for some last minute guacamole. They were frustratingly hard, and I got fed up and just bought three anyway. I ended up using two along with some other, riper specimens purchased in a calmer state, but one was so hard I couldn't even cut it in half to take the pit out. Unfortunately, since I cut into it already, I couldn't really leave it out to ripen, so it's been in the refrigerator all week and it's still hard.
PPK- What do I do? I can't sacrifice this poor avocado. How do I salvage it and let it become a contributing member of a meal?

Yeah, fruit won't ripen in the fridge. You could try throwing it in the microwave on low power for minute intervals and see if it'll do anything, that's what I had to do last week when I was in a similar situation.
