I know there are scone recipes in VWAV, VB and probably elsewhere. What's the best recipe? I don't like to make recipes I've never tried before when sharing with omni strangers, but I really want to make scones for a thing on Sunday, so I need some guidance!

Both the basic scone recipe and the tomato rosemary scones in VB are great. The basic recipe is more flakey and the tomato one is more fluffy. I made the basic recipe with cherries and almond pieces and added almond extract. They were soooooo good.

I love the glazed orange scones from VWAV. I've had omnis beg me for the recipe.
I really like the flavor of the rosemary tomato scones, but I have a hard time getting them to turn out just right. A lot of times they are too moist for my taste. I love them. I make them a lot. But, I'm hesitant about making them for others.

My favorite scone recipe I've found so far is the sour cream scones from Vegan Lunchbox Around the World. I impressed a house full of omni's with those.

Can't serve Rosemary tomato scones (VB) without being asked for the recipe.

I love the scone recipe from vegan brunch -the one for sweet scones, although the tomato rosemary scones are fantastic as well. My favorite scones are the basic VB recipe, but using the flavorings for the maple scones in vwav. YUM!

The only scones I've made were the plain ones from VWAV, but woah are they good. My omni roommates kept stealing the ones I stored in the freezer.

I was hoping there was already some love for the VB Tomato-Rosemary scones in this thread. They really are fabulous!
I also love the Raspberry Chocolate Chip scones in Eat, Drink, and be Vegan.
All are, in my experience, omni-approved!

VWAV scones with chocolate chips. My kids get on their knees for these. And they are super easy to make.

I prefer the vwav scones to the vb ones, but they're both good. I generally use solid shortening (like Earth Balance sticks or Spectrum) instead of oil and cut it into the flour using my food processor. Then I dump that mixture in a bowl and add the liquid ingredients, knead a few times to develop just enough gluten that they'll rise and hold their shape, roll out and bake.

I made the apple rosemary ones (a variation of the plain in VB) and served them to omnis, and they got devoured. So delicious!

I'm a big fan of the VB scones with the blueberry ginger variation. The touch of spice from the ginger gets them every time.
