My roommate just gave me a ton of pasta that expired in March of '09. None of the bags have been opened and I'm really strapped for cash and tempted to keep them on hand...what's the worst that could happen to me if I ate it?

Pasta expires?!
Yeah, I'd check for bugs (unlikely in sealed packages) and then I'd eat it.

It would never even occur to me to look for an expiration date on dry pasta.

I didn't even know dry pasta expired, so I'd say it's fine!

It may be, I dunno... More dry?
I guess as long as it didn't get wet (unlikely if the bags are sealed) it's probably fine.

I'd eat it! If it has a weird texture, bugs, or tastes funky after cooking, compost it, but otherwise YAY free pasta!

My dad is a supermarket manager and he always brings home expired dry goods that tend to sit in their house for months afterwords until someone finally uses them or I take them to my place and use them.
I have lived this way for 28 years. I'd say you're fine.

I'm sure most of my pasta is expired. I would totally eat it so long as there wasn't anything visually yicky looking about it.
