For my birthday I received a fancy-pants set of nice finishing oils, saffron, truffle salt, and fig balsamic vinegar. I'm pretty excited for all of it - my eyes have been opened to the world of "good" olive oils - but I had never considered fig balsamic before. What would you guys use it for? I keep coming back to chevre and crostini type things...

darn it - meant to post in Food. Not enough coffee yet. Sorry about that. Maybe a mod could move? Thanks.

Use it on everything! Salad dressing, drizzled over strawberries, in a tofu glaze, over veggies...

Happy birthday! What a nice present, that all sounds delicious. :)

Strawberries roasted in olive oil and balsamic with a pinch of salt are delicious by themselves or over vanilla coconut ice cream. You could try something like that - perhaps even with figs when they are in season!

Peaches roasted the same way with a bit of fresh basil chiffonaded over are nice, too; I don't know if peaches and fig would go well together, but it's worth trying!

Drizzle it over vanilla coconut ice cream and top with chopped toasted pistachios!

Dip tasty crusty bread in it with some olive oil!

Swirl a little in maple syrup and pour over pancakes!

I eat it on salads, mostly ones with berries in them.

Thank you! I'm intrigued by the pancake idea, and bouncing off of your roasted strawberry suggestion, I may utilize it in a berry compote for crepes. Thanks!

Make a fancy pants cheese with your balsamic fig vinegar!! I made this and its DIVINE. Use agave in place of the honey.
