Thank you so much! It's super cold outside/warm inside comfort food for me. Plus there's broccoli in it, which means I can eat whatever I want for the rest of the day...right? That's how nutrition works?

It's snowing here for the first time this year, so even though I have a fridge filled with delicious leftovers all I'm craving is canned tomato soup.

I'm making a batch of Ajvar tonight (it's a type of vegetable spread for bread or vegetables), so that will take a while but won't actually be a meal. It's cold so my instinct is soup, but I can't decide what kind- maybe corn chowder? Oooo, or spicy lentil?

Ooo, I figured it out, I'm going to make Broccoli Carrot Cream Soup. It'll go perfectly with my garlic bread and fresh Ajvar (which I make spicy). I can't wait to go home and cook!!!

I sort of want to make a tex-mex style casserole or something.

Tonight I made a lazy version of PPK blog Smoky Tomato Lentil Soup w/ Spinach and olives.

No olives (yuck), kale instead of spinach, can of plain diced tomatoes (fire toasted tomatoes? What is that?), regular paprika, many dashes of liquid smoke, and a big Yukon gold potato to bulk it out. Boiled the heck out of it to speed up the process and there was almost no flavour melding time. Still really really yummy.

We are tying to eat cheap right now. I don't know where the money goes. We tried to eat out of the pantry and had pasta with red sauce, spinach, and canellini beans.

I've been too lazy to go dumpster diving and my budget for the following weeks is exactly 0 euros so I just ate what was in the fridge. That means pasta with a few sad drops of chili sauce and some iceberg lettuce. That's kind of sad. At least I have some old apple crumble for dessert...

Tonight's Khao Soi Curry soup with rice noodles. I made the paste earlier today and it'll be pretty damn sweet to relive the dish from our travels last month.

What wasn't for dinner? I went to my first PPK potluck! We had a Fall theme. There were: squash risoto, chick pea tart, sweet potato casserole with pecan streusel topping, maple mustard roasted brussels sprouts with tempeh bacon, stuffing with dried cranberries and apple sage sausage, kale salad with curried almond dressing, maple baked beans, pumpkin corn bread; and then for dessert: warm apple pie, pumpkin brownies, and pear frangepine tart. It was vegan food heaven!
