Oooh! I wish I could find our juicer! I could use a sno-cone.

OK, so Imma revive this dead thread because I just got a surprise "Yonana" delivered for my birthday. (that sounds dirty)
Last month DH got me a Vitamix 750 with frozen dessert cycle. So.. I guess, my question is, should I return the Yonana? I don't think my parents will be super offended if I do, but they meant well, it was a thoughtful gift..but...it seems like kind of a unitasker, so I guess my question is does it do anything the Vitamix won't? (I also have a juicer, a food processor, an immersion blender, two ice cream makers, and a Zoku.)

scraping is different than pulverizing. it makes a different product.

I loved the So Delicious sugar-free mint chip ice cream, but hated the other flavor I tried. It's an enigma. I think stevia/mint is a good combination, but it doesn't go well with most other things. Like, I love it in mint tea, but it's gross in coffee. My mom's hippie friend will roll up a stevia leaf and a mint leaf from her garden and then just munch on them, which is pretty delicious. I agree. I don't care for it with chai, but it works just fine in peppermint tea.

I just had banana soft serve for the first time this weekend. My friend made it for me with some peanut butter added in. It was tasty!

hey if I subbed frozen pumpkin puree for bananas, would it taste "just like" pumpkin pie ice cream? (seriously, I don't have a ice cream maker, and I need to try to make this with my immersion blender. with a splash of coconut milk, should it be a blend of frozen banana and pumpkin? just pumpkin?)

Well pumpkin isn't nearly as sweet as banana. I might do a lot of banana and a little pumpkin.

Does this mean that you can make sno-cones in a juicer? I'm tryna convince my husband that we need one and that would totally put him in the yes camp!

it might make very fine snow. (aren't sno-cones slightly chunky?) also it's possible frozen water might be too solid, and might break the blades. i would experiment for you, but i don't have the money to replace parts. sorry.

I agree, frozen bananas taste nothing like soft serve. And EB does not quite taste like butter, but its closer to butter than frozen bananas are to soft serve. That said, I love this thread...Its like vegans are finally "coming out" of the food closets! ;)

dudes, it's the texture, not necessarily the flavor. (and scraped, not pulverized)
