My parents are having a gallery opening and I am in charge of desserts. I need delicious an BEAUTIFUL! Suggestions?

I was just logging in to post this exactly. PB has some of the most beautiful desserts ever and any of them would be worthy of a gallery opening.

I second this! You can do a variety of flavors with fun colors and garnishes, and they look so elegant on cupcake trays.

Are you ordering them or making them, I guess is a crucial question. I feel like you can get such a lot of mileage from simple cupcakes if you're not a professional baker. You can make a few batches of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and then a huge batch of icing and vary the icings and get a bunch of different flavors - After Eight (choc cake with mint icing), choc and PB, choc and cherry or pomegranate, and choco banana, and its all pretty userfriendly.

I am very bad at complicated execution though, so doing the stuff Poopie (who is seriously freakyamazing) does isn't ever going to be an option for me. But it may be for you!

What ever you do, post tons of pictures!

+1 yummy! I don't know how experienced a baker you are, but if you have never made them, and are feeling adventurous, I would be happy to send you recipes and tips I have found helpful. If petit fours seems like too much to take on (because they can be labor intensive), then I second mini cupcakes. All lined up on trays they can look very impressive.

Along the same lines, anything in miniature (think 1-2 bites) looks amazing when neatly arranged. Fruit tarts are a great idea, mini cupcakes, even small cookies when combined with other similar-sized sweets. I'm sure whatever you do will be amazing, be sure to post pictures!

I think mini fruit pies in a bunch of flavors would be great. But very mini, like large round ravioli sized hand pies. You can take advantage of the season, and they make great finger food.
