Starting September 9th, Join us for 12 fun weeks of cookbook cooking! Everyone seems to have a selection of cookbooks they’ve been neglecting, so the goal of this challenge is to inspire you to utilize all those books that you just haven’t gotten around to using. Based on the survey that was posted earlier, we have chosen 9 fantastic cookbooks (with a couple of Isa/Terry wild cards thrown in the mix). Every week, choose 3 or more recipes from the selected cookbook and post your results in the weekly thread. I know not everyone will own all the chosen cookbooks, so don’t forget to check your local library or search for recipes online, or you can even choose an alternate cookbook.

Here are the weeks and the cookbooks we will be cooking from:

September 9 – Isa and Terry FREE CHOICE – Pick any book from the amazing duo – V’con, VV, AFR, VWAV, VB, etc.
September 16 – World Vegan Feast
September 23 – Hearty Vegan Meals for Monster Appetites
September 30 – Vegan Diner
October 7 – Yellow Rose Recipes
October 14 – Vegan Sandwiches Save the Day
October 21 – Isa and Terry FREE CHOICE – V’con, VV, AFR, VCIYCJ, VWAV, VB, etc.
October 28 – Chloe’s Kitchen
November 4 - American Vegan Kitchen
November 11 - Quick and Easy Low Cal Vegan Comfort Food
November 18 - 500 Vegan Recipes
November 25 – Isa and Terry FREE CHOICE – V’con, VV, AFR, VCIYCJ, VWAV, VB, etc.

At the beginning of each week, we will post a thread dedicated to that cookbook for the week. You can post your results as well as any pictures. If you have any questions, feel free to post them.

Now start planning those meals!

Hmmm...I think I will spoil myself and get a new cookbook. Maybe vegan brunch) or Yellow Rose Recipes. I hear lots of good things about those. Hmmmmmm

(Lucky for me, vegan diner is at my local library - check your libraries people!)

thanks so much for putting this together. i was really excited to participate in this but as it turns out after perusing my local libarry catalog that i dont think i can do several weeks :-(
im bummin!!!

it's a big libarry network too and they only have a few of the ones im missing *sad face*

i just dug up an old libarry card from another libarry network but i have to see if there are any branches near here. i got the card over 10 years ago when i lived closer to Boston.

im super psyched to participate in the weeks when i can though! i think i will start with v'con since it's my least used Isa book. it does appear i can get Viva Vegan from the libarry so i think i will try that one for one of the Isa/Terry weeks! :-)

Haha I love that when I do a search for "Vegan" online on my local library's catalog, Scott Pilgrim vs The World comes up.

(also Vegan Diner and VCTOYCJ, as far as those on the list that I don't have go)

Nice! I will definitely be participating in some of the weeks. It's cool to have the Isa/Terry wildcard weeks, because despite owning several of their books there are still soooooo many recipes I've never tried.

I'm in, and really excited! Plus I have all the books on the list, so if anyone needs help with a book they don't have and the interwebs and Amazon "look inside" can't help enough, I'll be here!

Thanks for organising, Maggie. There are quite a few I don't have, and I can really only justify buying one - I think I'll get the sandwich book! But I'll do other stuff in the weeks I don't have the book. And I'll have to do Q&E Low-Cal the week after because it's at my parents' house, and I won't be there until the 19th. But I'm excited to have some definite plans for MoFo now!

Nice. I have all but Low-Cal Comfort Food and 500 Vegan Recipes, so I'm in! And those are towards the end anyway, so maybe I'll grab them before then.

Thanks for organizing! I have all but weeks 2 and 3, so I really need to participate. I like the idea of choosing an alternative those weeks because I have far too many books right now that need some love.

And before the challenge is over, Terry's new book should be out!

Swoon! You just made my night!!!!!
Yes, Maggie, thank you so much for organizing! This works out perfect for me because I was thinking of doing a couple v'con recipes for my sister's birthday on the 9th. I don't have a lot of the books on the list, but I'm going to use inter library loan, amazon peek inside, blogs (sometimes cook book authors post a few of the recipes from their books on their blogs!), maybe buy a book or two, and worst case scenario just sub a book I own on a week I don't own the prescribed book. I'll probably sit out Thanksgiving Week because I'll be hosting.

I love the cookbook challenge! I don't think I'll make it through all twelve weeks, but I will jump in here and there. Thanks for organizing!

I can't do this every week, but I've got a few of those, so I'll be jumping in some of the weeks!

I think sometimes if people dont have a certain book, they've just picked one they do own and want to cook more from. so don't feel you cant join in because you don't have the exact book.

Looks like I'll be "out" most weeks as I don't have most of these and some of them I am just not interested in owning...and here you don't find many vegan cookbooks in libraries. But there are a couple I might add.

I should take part - I own 95% if not ll of the cook books and should really dust them off & use them! I can't do this weekly but like others I will come in and out!

I'll have to be one of the non-weekly participants, too. Library does not have the majority of these.

So I will do what I can and sub for a few perhaps. I hadn't thought of amazon's look inside feature though! Thanks for mentioning it, because that might solve some of the problem. :-D

I want to buy Vegan Brunch, but I don't want to BUY it, and I really wanna use it for this challenge. Can someone tell me if there are a few VB recipes on the PPK blog that I can use? the Tempeh Cakes are on there, but what else?

(I checked the library..not there. boo)

I will probably check out the other authors websites too, see if they have any recipes from the books listed on thier sites/blogs so I can contribute that week. Also, it will tell me if I like them enough to buy.
