I always use a spoon and mix by hand. i've never had a lump in my pumpkin pie.

I really want to make the pumpkin cheesecake again but I need a lower sugar dessert. (I tried FFV). Has anyone tried the VPITS pumpkin cheesecake with less sugar? Also, NO stevia, I hate it.

Going to in search of field roast cranberry hazelnut en croute today.

I think I'm going to make a pre-dinner/lunch selection of dips:
-inspired vegan beet tartare (this is SO GOOD. I make double batches and inhale them)
-cashew spread, garlicky potato dip, and walnut red pepper dip from vegan eats world

And then for the real dinner:
-sourdough stuffing of some sort
-potato and mixed greens gratin from vegan soul kitchen
-a seitan wellington, maybe.

My mom always makes a couple of sides vegan:
-mashed potatoes
-some sort of gravy
-this warm winter vegetable salad (autoplay at the link)

For dessert:
-cranberry kuchen
-pumpkin pie

today must be the day for vegan chefs to post recipes for Thanksgiving.
Chloe has a NYT feature for a "vegetarian" Thanksgiving.
i didnt go through all the recipes so some of them might be veg rather than vegan (though if they are Chloe's recipes/???)

If you have Veganomincon I would reccomend making the Pumpkin Baked Ziti. You will be able to get all the ingredients, and it is easy to make. You could even make most of it the night before, then do the topping and bake the day of. Everyone will love it. Fake meat roasts and stuff might scare off the omni's. Then you could round out the dish with some kick-ass side dishes. Or a dessert.

The boy and I are planning for hosting his family for Thanksgiving (gulp!)... all we've REALLY agreed on for certain is that in the morning, we'll be drinking Bloody Marys and/or ruby red grapefruit mimosas (had these at brunch the other day--so good!).

I keep wanting to make more than he does, so this might be interesting.

Ho hum the annual holiday argument...

I think I'll make some sourdough stuffing, smashed Yukon gold potatoes, some gravy, and pumpkin cheesecake. It will just be me eating so I'll just make favorites.

I've never noted fake ham at TJ's before. Is it slices or one big chunk? Is it sold in the refrigerator over by the tofu, tempeh, and Tofurkey sausages, or is it in the freezer?

I have not tried the TJs fake ham & this will be the first time trying the WF one too (which is partly why I have the back-up gardein turkey). This one is a roll & comes with apricot glaze. It looks good on the box anyway.

Ok, I'm going to look for this TJ ham. Have not seen it in the TJ nearest me so I'm not sure where to look. Maybe with the Tofurky? They don't seem to freeze the Tofurky so maybe they keep everything together. I'll report back with photos if I find it.

I've decide to go with a brunch this year. Ideas so far:
- Pumpkin French Toast (VB)
- Hash browns or home fries (VB)
- Tempeh Sausage Pastry Puffs (VB)
- Sweet Potato Drop Biscuits (AFR)
- Apple Brown Betty (VPITS)

Any other ideas? I want to make crepes for my mom because she doesn't like French toast, pancakes or waffles (I know!) but I'm not sure yet what to fill them with. Some kind of tofu quiche might also be nice but I don't know what would make it Thanksgiving-y.

I think you need some greens in there. I love the sausage & collards recipe in vegan brunch. Or the swiss chard frittata?

Hmm, I'm terrible at frittatas but maybe that would work with a quiche! I could make the broccoli one or swap in some spinach or collard greens.

I forgot to mention I have a ton of fresh cranberries that need using so I'm open to ideas for those, too. I tend not to like cranberry sauce, except the kind from a can, heh. Maybe the Pear & Cranberry Galette from VPITS?

I think that quiche will be good regardless! I haven't tried the galette, it'd probably be fab, but I do know those cranberry orange muffins in either VB or Vcon are super good.

What about cranberry crepes with cashew cheese? I'm sure you'll like the sauce more if it's mixed with a creamy sauce and stuffed in a crepe.

Also, I don't know why I never thought of doing Thanksgiving brunch. Definitely trying this next year.

Have you considered cranberry preserves? Made like jam? I make that every year around this time and it's awesome on corn muffins or toast. You don't need any pectin to make cranberry jam because it contains so much naturally.

just hanging out with a couple of friends this year, and I don't think we are doing a traditional dinner this time. I think I will make a casserole of some type, but I definitely have to make dressing and gravy. I make a veganized version of the dressing I grew up eating. I think I will make cranberry salsa too.

Do you like cranberry orange bread? I think I made and liked the one from Veganomicon, but I usually veganize the one my mom has always made. You can make a couple loaves and freeze one.

I usually make my own, but thinking of buying one this year, but would have to get it at WF. I am askaird to find out how much they are
