Does anyone have a sweet potato casserole without nuts that you've made and liked? My sister is allergic to all nuts, and I'd like to make one she can eat (I'm also making the one from fatfreevegan). I can just search the interwebz, but I'd like a ppk-approved one for Thanksgiving.

Maybe you could just leave the nuts out of the topping, or replace them with pumpkin seeds? It will taste different, but still delicious.

I looked up sweet potato casserole and it seems that nuts are only used for the top? How about a brown sugar/oatmealy granola type mix on top? I've made something in the past mixing oatmeal, brown sugar and other stuff together and used it to top baked apples.

Around here most folks put marshmallows on top instead of nuts. Maybe use dandies? I've never had them so I don't know if they melt as well as regular marshmallows. The granola-ish topping sounds good too.

Dandies are awesome and they melt great. They even roast over a fire. That would definitely be a good topping option.
Thanks for leading me to the FF Vegan recipe...I'd been looking for a good sweet potato casserole to make for a Thanksliving potluck on Saturday. I have a TON of sweet potatoes, so this is perfect.

I remember when I was young, one year my grandma made sweet potatoes and topped them with a layer of marshmallows. I got upset thinking "grandma, what did you do to my sweet potatoes?!". I am just a fan of plain sweet potatoes roasted in the oven.

Yeah I don't like them with marshmallows and neither does my sister. It may be because we are old. Ha! I was thinking I'd probably go the oatmeal-y route...probably same stuff I do on apple crisp. Oh and Susan never steers you wrong on fatfreevegankitchen. She and kittee are my go-to when my Southern-ness needs to be converted to vegan-ness. Thanks y'all!
