Hey guys! I'm making 9 dozen cookies for an event on Saturday, and some of them will be drop sugar cookies (as opposed to roll and cut). I have a recipe I used pregan that I could veganize, but I prefer using naturally vegan recipes if I can. Anyone have one you love? Nothing with flax please - it's a children's event so the less healthy looking the better.

I would also love to know if anyone has a good recipe for these. Cut out cookies are good and fun, but I'm envisioning a chewy, drop sugar cookie. Like a snickerdoodle without the cinnamon, I guess, but not exactly?

someone recommended these : http://www.ohladycakes.com/2011/12/sugar-cookies.html and I'm making them this weekend. I'm skeptical about vegan sour cream being necessary but am willing to try it because I've not found the kinda chewy, not crispy, very-vanilla type of sugar cookie I used to love.

Those look promising, but I'm also not super excited about buying a tub of sour cream only to use 3 tablespoons of it. I don't like the stuff any wouldn't use it for anything else, except perhaps another baking recipe.

The comments seem to indicate you could use vegan cream cheese, which I happen to have in the house. I am skeptical that anyone could get 65-70 cookies out of 1.25 cups of flour unless they're the size of chocolate chips.

yeah somewhere in there she says she used a 1 teaspoon scoop. So that's pretty tiny.

Thanks! I may give that one a try! FYI, I've had great luck subbing unsweetened yogurt for sour cream in cookie recipes (I do it in Hannah Kaminsky's whoopie pies all the time).

Been craving those store bought type with pink frosting. Just have to work up the nerve to go to store weekend before X-mas with crazy drivers to get the sour cream or cream cheese.
