ah, i didn't realize we were talking specifically about the 'top ramen' brand. i saw the 'maruchan' oriental flavor at the store and got excited until i saw that the last ingredient on the label was lactose :(
the hunt is on as i just splurged on 2 vegan ramen cups (mcdougal brand) at our natural foods grocery store, they were on sale, but they were still $1.50 a piece.

I... don't think I've ever been in a grocery store on the west coast that didn't have oriental flavor top ramen. I didn't realize it was so hard to come by!

I've never looked for the brand in question, but I peruse the heck of the local Asian supermarket for vegan ramens and there are usually 2-4, if not more. There's one with a leaf and one with a mushroom on it that I like - and they go for 30 cents or so.

good to know, i plan to head to our asian grocery store later this week. i'm embarassed i've never been there, but then again, my pre-vegan diet wasn't very exciting and didn't really merit a trip to a special ethnic grocery store. since going vegan back in august, i've been trying so many new dishes and eating way more exciting and flavorful things.
p.s. had the chance to pop into kroger earlier today (not a grocery store i usually go to) and they only had the marchuan brand ramen, no top ramen in sight. strange. i still need to pop into ingle's next time i drive by when i'm out doing errands.

okay, still haven't been to our asian grocery store :( but i was able to pop into ingle's while i was out doing other errands and SCORE! they had the oriental flavor of top ramen! it definitely is not "healthy" (when compared to the mcdougal's ramen cup i bought on occassion) but even when i ate regular ramen i only would use about half the seasoning packet so that should help. the ramen was 25 cents a pack. the mcdougal ramen up on sale was $1.50 a cup!
i'm sure someone has mentioned this, but there is another vegan top ramen flavor, chili spice or something that? ingles did not have it but my husband says he recalls seeing it somewhere so we'll find it eventually ;)

Yep, the Nissin Top Ramen chili flavor is also vegan. The packet is green. :)
Can I just say that it's annoying how Maruchan and Nissin Oriental ramen packets look almost identical, but the Maruchan one has milk in it? Can I also say it's annoying how my local supermarket dumps both brands together into the same bin? Uggggghhh
