has anyone ever experienced Larabars making them sick?
seems like lately everytime i eat one within an hour or two i feel like i used to feel when i ate dairy. i get a really bad stomach ache and i really have to poop.
usually i feel better once i poo.

i dont have any other issues with any other type of granola bar/protein bar/bar thingy.

i forget the flavor, its choco chip or choco chip cookie dough but it says vegan on the box.

im stumped.

ive never had an issue with dates before maybe it's just too many?

The chocolate chip ones usually have a "may contain milk from chocolate chips" warning, so maybe you got a box that did, if you're super sensitive to dairy?

Hm, maybe it's just too much dried fruit all at once? That can cause some GI issues. It's a lot of dried fruit and nuts all at once. I know in the past I've had issues from eating too many raw nuts. And yeah, the ones with chocolate chips do have a may contain dairy warning, but since it's just from being processed on equipment with dairy stuff, I wouldn't think it would be your issue. I guess, see if the same thing happens when you eat just the fruit ones?

i dont think my dairy sensitivity is that strong. i eat other things with the "processed on equipment that also processes dairy" or whatever that dont make me sick.

i wonder if it's the too much dried fruit.
the weird thing is the first few months i ate them i was fine then all of a sudden the last several times they've made me sick and it's been different boxes so i know it's not just a bad box.

i have one left and im afraid to eat it

are you sensitive to caffeine at all?

I know that within a few sips of a cup of coffee my uhhh..... motor starts revving. and Sometimes if I decide to have some breakfast chocolate the same thing happens. I'm wondering if the caffeine in the chocolate chips could be a trigger for you?

They gave me massive stomach aches and g.i. Issues after eating a few a week over the course of a few months a couple years ago. I dont/cant eat them ever anymore, just the thought of them makes me nauseated still and I think the same thing would happen if I tried. I have no issues with fresh, raw nuts (yeah, yeah....) and I have also not had problems with similar, high raw content bars. I had actually forgotten about that experience until reading this, so weird.

All those bars are usually hard on my belly. My unscientific analysis is that it's just REALLY dense food even though it feels like barely even a snack, so I wolf them down and then I'm confused when my digestive system is like "whoa there!". That isn't helpful, so listen to ijdi instead. She knows her shiitake (ew no pun intended).

Eating too many nuts at once can upset my stomach. So maybe it's all the nuts. I have very little experience with Larabars cause they are expensive only so so tasting and not that filling and not really that high protein for kind of a lot of fat and sugar for me.

you'd have to be *amazingly* sensitive to caffeine for that to be an issue. most of the 'upper' in chocolate is theobromine, with small amounts of caffeine.

for the record: my body is a-okay with Larabars, so I'm no help :(

Unless it was an automatic reaction. When i start my first coffee/chocolate bar of the morning, I'm like... two sips/nibbles in and all of a sudden it's go time. I know logically the caffeine hasn't hit my system, but i feel like my body knows its coming and just tries to get it out of the way.
