Post subject:  Cake for mother-in-law-to-be..... HELP!

Hi everyone,

my partner's mum is graduating in about two weeks time, and I have foolishly volunteered to make a cake..... so now I'm very very scared!
I'm not sure what to make or which recipe would be the safest to go with?
I'm thinking a fairly simple 2-layer cake, frosted and with a little bit of decoration.... I can figure that last bit out myself though.

Any ideas at all?
I'm not usually this insecure about my baking, I'm just really nervous....

Thanks! xx

If she likes chocolate the Raspberry Blackout cake from VWAV is a winner.

I have made the chocolate and the vanilla cake from Chloe's Kitchen, and both turn out better then the box cakes I used to make.

I am feeling like a very naughty PPKer, because I have never made the raspberry blackout cake. What is wrong with me?!

Also, good luck in the kitchen, BabyChimp!

I made it, and it went down so well! Thanks everyone!
Except my icing that I was using to pipe went a bit wrong, so I had to improvise and cover the (already covered) cake with icing, then write on it with molten chocolate. So it doesn't look quite as neat as I'd like it to. But hey ho!
Will post a picture later!
