I saw this recipe ( http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010 ... salad.html originally by Ina Garten) posted in the comments of a Jezebel article on why celery sucks. It was refereed to as "crack salad" not sure about that, but, it's pretty scrumptious. I, for one love celery - it's got a great texture and tastes bright. I used nutritional yeast in lieu of the parmesean cheese and halfed the amount of oil. i'd take a pic but I already ate it.

It is crunchy, chewy, naturally salty, and yet refreshing: delicious in every way!

I love celery in stir fry! Never thought of having it in a salad like that.

Celery haters are crazy. If nothing else, it makes stews and soups the most delicious. I love the way my hands smell after I've cut up a big bunch of celery.

(I actually really love celery, but I found that original article, and this picture, hilarious.)

You guys are gross. Celery has the strongest grossest taste and it smells disgusting and it's the worst.

Huh. You people are making me want to try that and I loathe celery. Loathe it. The strings! Gak.

I thought this sub-forum was about food? Why, then, is celery allowed? *reports as spam*

If you hate celery for the weird strings, try celeriac root. SO FREAKING GOOD!
I love celery. It also has numbing compounds so its perfect for teething babies. So essentially it is magic

I don't understand why people would care about the strings in celery. Strings are a non-issue. It's the taste that overpowers everything it touches.

I'm intrigued with the dish, but I dunno about the anchovy paste.

It's all about the strings and the peppery-ness for me. UGH! I can't imagine a salad *focussing* on that evil vegetable. It's not too bad cooked, if the flavour is muted significantly... But if this salad really is that amazing, maybe it's worth a try?

Dudes. I love celery if it's been soaked in water for a while before I eat it. I can sympathize with the haters though. When I worked at a produce market, after prepping it I used to get celery rash*. I remember everyone who worked there would get celery blisters and refused to prep it. * http://www.dermnetnz.org/dermatitis/plants/celery.html

Celery rash, gross! Does that happen even if you wear gloves? I'm not especially worried since I never cut up more than one bunch of celery at a time, but I am curious.

It wouldn't happen to your hands, but it might get on your forearms.
