I finally made it and I'm obsessed. I didn't make the Hoppin' John, but served it over pasta, Brussels sprouts, and V'Con Smokey Grilled Tempeh. Now I can't stop thinking about it. I just want to make a new batch and eat it with a spoon.

Dammit, Isa! I've got things to do! Guess I'll have to make some so I can get on with my day.

Anybody else finding themselves similarly obsessed?

Ooh! That's a great idea, ijdi!

Tonight I'm going to use it to fancy up mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and a "meh" store-bought veggie burger that I have to use up.

YES. I love this sauce so much. I want to put it on every bowl I make! I bet it would be amazing on potatoes!

What hot sauce do you use for this? The recipe says Frank's but I don't have any left and the only store in town that carried it have stopped selling it :(

I dip things in it. Like tortilla chips, raw veggies, pita bread.

Or my fingers.

I had some leftover from my lunch the other day in a little container. On the way to the gym, in my car, I was eating it with my fingers. People in other cars were toats giving me the stare down.

I've been using this brand. I bought it at a local deli that sells American products. I think it's pretty similar to Frank's. I've used it to make Buffalo wings before and it worked really well (and being from Buffalo, I'm pretty picky about my Buffalo sauce).

You might be able to order some (Frank's or another brand) online. Maybe Amazon.co.uk?

I've been making it without the garlic so I don't have to use the blender.

It is seriously addictive. I chuck everything in the cup from my immersion blender (with the garlic whole) and zap it a couple times - instant delicious. It's really good in wraps! And on everything. And eaten from the container with a spoon. Mmm.

I make a sauce similar to this (with miso and some other stuff) and I just use a little bit of garlic powder. Anything to avoid having to wash the blender.

Yes! I've been putting it on every damn thing. Zwingtip and I were freaking out over it in the randoms things thread, if I recall. Too bad it needs like a damn half bottle of Frank's or i'd make it every damn day!

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered some Frank's (the regular one and chili/lime, my favorite) on amazon. Hope it'll get here quickly!

Best sauce is best!

I made a tofu scramble with this and black beans and green onions the other day and it was possibly the best scramble I have ever tasted.

Made this yesterday because of this thread. Wow it's good! I ate it for lunch on a wrap with roasted Brussels sprouts and baked tofu. Definitely more than the sum of it's parts. My mouth is pleasantly burning after dipping pretzel sticks in it just now.

As far as the no-blender thing: I still need to use the blender to get it smooth and creamy. I guess it depends on the tahini you use! Since I use a Magic Bullet it's NBD. I should work for Magic Bullet.

I made it once with my stick blender and that was super easy. But I guess my tahini is really smooth and pretty liquidy, so whisking works, too. Either way it's good on everything. I had tofu scramble with cornbread waffles and the sauce on top.
